Ac compressor question on a B16

hey can you leave the ac compressor hooked up to a belt if there arent any lines on it or anything, basicly remove the entire system now except the compressor untill youy get the right belt later? this is on a 99si with a b16a2

thought b16 AC compressor ran on its own belt? if so just take it off. it would be fine as an idler pulley if you do leave belt on.

just cut the belt off

I would not leave it connected by just a belt. You said there were no coolant /refridgerant lines running to it. The internal clutch may burn up if it just sits there…and if you cut the belt off it it’ll seize over time. If nothing is connected, just take it off, but leave it’s mount

you could leave a belt on it no problem. unless you have the A/C on, the pulley just freewheels anyway. since there won’t be any lines, or pressure in the system, then there is no way the system will come on and engage the front clutch.

but the better question is why? if you’re removing the whole system, there isn’t a belt you need to buy. just remove the shit. that belt drives the A/C compressor and thats it.

hahaha

are you ac dumb?

no im just b series dumb lol who needs to know about b when you have a k
