In light of recent events that have occurred in the United States and around the world I want to encourage citizens of Ulster County who are licensed to carry a firearm to PLEASE DO SO.
I urge you to responsibly take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, make sure you are comfortable and proficient with your weapon, and knowledgeable of the laws in New York State with regards to carrying a weapon and when it is legal to use it.
I also want to remind all Police/Peace Officers both active duty and retired to please carry a weapon whenever you leave your house. We are the thin blue line that is entrusted in keeping this country safe, and we must be prepared to act at any given moment.

The posting was by Malik made on an account with a different name, according to one U.S. official. The officials did not explain how they knew Malik made the post."

Agreed. He got into that big religious debate with his Jewish coworker not long ago and said “fuck it, there’s infidels right here, lets take them out first then we’ll do our planned attack”. They just didn’t expect to get into a shootout with police so soon after shooting up the party.

You want to lower gun deaths nation wide? Life sentence if a gun is involved in a violent crime and then work to address poverty and drug issues in urban areas. However nobody cares about personal risk based on actual statistics they care what the news is making people perceive as the primary threat in their life.

I guess Obama/congress did want to do “something” stop people on the terrorist watch list from buying firearms however…If you are on a list without due process, lets take away your right to own a firearm and your right to a fair trial.
However removing rights from people with no due process and no trial because of a secret list try exchanging the right to buy a firearm with another right and purpose the same thing.
Beyond that you’re not supposed to know you’re on the list so if X terrorist randomly get denied on a NICS change they might but things together.
