So a while back i purchased a new clutch master cylinder for my civic from the Advance in the Tops plaza at the corner of Union and George Urban…was around $90. (as opposed to the $20 slave cylinder…fuck me)…
This Sunday the same thing happens…clutch engages closer to the floor every time i push it in and within a bit i can’t get it into gear at all nor disengage the clutch by pressing the pedal.
i check fluid…it’s gone…i pour some in, and same as last time…the new fluid immediately turns foggy black (which was the same thing it did last time), which i was told means the seals are more than likely shot…try pumping the clutch, the fluid doesn’t really go down at all and the pedal gains no pressure…no leaks in the lines, the slave is still fine/not leaking. more than likely a master that was on it’s way out from the factory and it took a month or so of my driving for it to finally say peace out.
I call Advance where i bought it to ask if they have any in stock…they do, and the girls mentions it coming with a year warranty.
i say: “oh rly?”
she says: “ya rly!”
i ask her to look up my number, she does…and says she sees my record, but no record of buying the master.
she says without a receipt she probably can’t help me…i say there’s no way i have the receipt since i didn’t expect to be needing to replace the same part within a month or two…
10 minutes later, she calls me back on my cell…
“i talked to my supervisor…we did a search for all related sales about a month and a half ago and see we did sell a clutch master cylinder for your make and model around that time, so we’ll just count it as your purchase, make sure it shows up on your record from now on and put this one on hold for you until you bring in the old one…no charge.”
tits…
I never expected that kinda break…now i just wish there was some way of knowing for sure by inspecting my current master cylinder that it’s bad so i don’t bust and freeze my knuckles working outside only to find i fixed nothing…
yea, andyb is the best advanced manager by far. Hes the man. Nyspeeders get the hook up at the lackawanna store too it its closer for anyone. Layzie and I work there.
My old man used to be the manager for Peps on Niagara/Sheriden, but realized how crooked that place was and now manages the AutoParts International out in Hamburg. (Advanced Autos’ wholesaler)
advanced probably has one of the best return policies and upgrades for the right part at no cost happens frequently. Our computers are never always right. Sometimes you need to go a year ahead or a year back to find the right part.
I agree, advance is the easiest of all the stores to deal with, sometimes they don’t have stuff and you have to shop around that’s the only time i call napa on wherle.
I swore 2 years ago never return within the doors of autozone they SUCK there all dicks that work there…i love advanced!!! they hook me up all the time…and now that cky89 works at clinton and transit things got that much better!
