I just came back from streetheat or whatever it is down in lethbridge, which was actually pretty cool, and stayed with a bunch of guys from the Grand National club. The one guy there runs consistant low 12 and 11s in Calgary, (white T-type for anyone who goes regularly) and swears by Alcohol injection as did some others there. He is running 20 something pounds boost on stock everything other then the alcohol. I was wondering if anyone had ever tried this on their turbo cars, and if they really felt it was worth it. I know if i was to do it i would wait until i had a stronger turbo (dont T-25 choke at 13 or 14 psi anyway) I had never really thought about it until i saw these cars in action, opinions etc anyone?
Yes, it has been done. On a side note after a week he broke a connecting rod.

you can use whats called a boost cooler , which basically sprays water/methanol into your intake stream to cool down the charge , its good for about 50hp at higher boost
I was eyeing up the CryO2 kits in Mopac yesterday. Seems like it would be a decent boost.
ALcohol isn’t just to cool there is other benfefits but not really for daily driven cars SO MUCH. U basicly using a nozzle to mist alhol at x amount of boost in , while misted it has few benefits
1 quiet a drop in ur intake amibient tempretures
2 cleans ur plumbing , engine
3 provides a much more combustable air/fuel ratio, different burning and ignition properties
U not going to daily drive with alcohol its simply a drag car upgrade if anything.
Again alchol requieres tuning too , its not u just buy 200$ kit drill a hole set ur nozzle to spray at x psi done u can run 40psi of boost and do 10’s 11’s on factory internals.People pick alcohol over intercoolers in drag racing due to pressure drop big intercooler and piping will give of the line. They just run a short pipe from turbo to intake and alcohol inject it so they get instant response , shaves time in 1/4 mile and of corse alows to run exesSive boost without preignition etc.
People brake rods cuz of tuning mistakes they do a simple injection kit crank boost up and expect majic to happen.
Too agresive of a timing curve for x amount of boost, alcohol or not ur crank is still traveling upwords to tdc and ur max pressure is already reached before 5 deg btdc … what do u think is goint to happen piston is goint to travel downwards before crank gets to tdc , either going to have a spun bearing and scraped crank journal or if bearing survives but ur rod will absorb the stress.
