Always Know Your Salesperson/Installer

Okay, I am going to try this a little more under the covers so to speak.
I want to know how ya’ll feel a bout this one so please reply to thread.

How do you feel when you walk into a Chain store, talk to some smelly, but well dressed monkey spankin High School kid about a set of speakers or whatever for your car, only to find that your neighbors daughter probably knows more about 12volt than this pimple faced f@g.

Then after trying to make sence of his bolognie You find yourself searching the web for anywhere to buy this item for a reasonable price, and end up at good old f*^k!ng FEE Bay, where you relunctantly pay about 25% less than retail and 125% more on the shipping, adding up to still pay more than that Chain store.

After 10-14 days the box arrives with what you bought, a little banged up but hey you’ve got ‘em right?, and you saved $$ , right??You decide to Stop bye the ol’ Local Stereo Shop ((Small Business, that you didnt want to buy from cause the poor guy was trying to sell you the same thing for like 6 bucks more!! what a jerk, right??))

Well meanwhile that poor guy was just trying to feed his family, and you just gave that extra money to some Arab who is selling on Feebay to save up for some napalm, Anyways

Their you are asking this “Jerk” to install this product, after a brief negotiation on the install price he accepts the 50% lower than normal install fee after all he needs to buy some milk, and pampers on the home.
He begins the job.

Now more than 2 hours into it, he finds that the nice guy from ebay (The arab) has sent you some garbage that does not work cause the zone is wrong and the Nav disks are for frickin europe, And the screen is cracked.

After bringing this to your attention you decide, Hmm… now why should i pay for the install?? He gave my car back to me in the same condition i gave it to him, hmmm, so you negotiate an even lower price, settle and leave feeling great about your days adventure and leaving that poor guy counting pennies. nice.
Moral of the story, Know your salesman, He knows the product, he offers a warranty, even if he cant spell good, and sure, you may be able to buy it for less somewhere else, but whos kids would you rather help feed, that poor guy who needs milk, and owns his shop down the street, or the Arab buying missels??

Think about it, PLEASE help support the local business, and those people who bring thier years of experiance and knowledge to work everyday, They work hard to please thier customers, they dont stop trying, and they stand behind what they sell.

You sir, are a racist, idiot.

are you a car stereo man…

also when i do searches for some stuff i can find things at 1/2 price new…knock on wood since i statrted using EBAY i haven’t gotten anything broken cracked ETC.

sheesh self promotion 2 days in a row

I honestly didnt mean any racism with what i was typing in that thread, I was trying to make a point, Know your salesman… i couldnt find a good example so the arab came to mind, but none the less and all the same arab could actually mean anybody, just sounds better, and make more sence,
Really not racist at all, gees 40% of my business is customers of races other than mine,
As for ebay, and being in this business, i hear soooo many horor stories about stuff, plus i buy stuff from ebay, just never electronics, i mean what could really be wrong with a stapler right?
I was just venting, and i thought you guys would be supportive, but hey, i was wrong it happens,
This is not self promotion, I didnt say my Shop name, Really wouldnt you try to make some food money, for the family

its cool. shit happens. you got beat on ebay. you’re lucky the installer agreed to do the work. most shops will not install what they dont sell for this very reason. you def should pay the installer for his time and look for compensation for everything from from the ebay seller.

im the installer that didnt get paid!!! lol, i was more or less making conversation, but the responces are good, funny anyways, Be_Rad?? pm me we may know each other, i think

ah you wrote it in the wrong perspective. I thought you got beat and were telling everyone about it lol. nice one.

did I just read a commercial?

Depends on where your shopping?? This was for ALL Small Businesses, just a reminder to help these guys, or us guys, but for a add for ebay, sure it is lol, nahh just playin, i was just trying to have some fun,

is it just me? or do you seem mildly retarded today? I understood everything he wrote in the first post :moon:

Yea, i bought a sony headunit on ebay about 3 years ago (my first mistake was buying anything sony) well here 3 years later, half the buttons dont work or control other funtions (ex, button to close face plate turns down volume instead) Now if i would have bought it from best buy or somewhere else, i could have bought a warranty with it and got it fixed when it started acting up on me about a year ago. oh well. atleast it still plays CDs (sometimes  )

:gives: :tool:

ebay ftw. I get everything off ebay, never have trouble with shit. Always buy from strong sellers, and never buy used electronics. Paypal > money order. Use your head and it wont get beat.

Wow, good job on introducing your business.

I think you’ll see that a lot of the people on here do tend to support the local guys, particularly the guys we’ve gotten to know from the board - I know I’ve dealt with JJs, Hybrid, & Domination.

A lot of people are do-it-yourselfers though, and particularly with car audio, mail order tends to be substantially cheaper. But you’re right, you don’t get the same type of service as local, and that can make the difference sometimes.

If you dont have the ability, knowledge, or desire to market your business and find a niche that will allow you to succeed in your area and in your industry, then you deserve to fail. No-one here goes to Domination, JJ’s, 1st Try, etc for the simple fact that we know them. We go there because we get first class service, at competitive prices, with guys that we know that we can trust. Word of mouth is the most powerful advertising out there, and these three companies are using it well.

Price is never the most important thing. NEVER. When you sell quality and believe in the quality of your product, then you will get that business. I tend to shy away from guys that “need to feed their families”. Apparently, there is an issue here as to why the business is struggling that bad.

Maybe I’m old school, maybe I’m arrogant, I dont know. But I know for a fact that unless I see a definate benefit for keeping my business local, I’m going to do my business with whatever serves me best.

Sorry for the rant.

I don’t work in a field that has anything to do with cars or car audio for that matter, but I have people that used to order windows and doors from me at my old company drive over 1 1/2 hours away from that store to purchase from me at my new location. I get alot of people that wont even talk to the other people in my store becasue I have done good for them in the past and they will only would with me. IMO if you are good at what you do you don’t have to worry about price gouging to get the sale, all you have to do if make shit happen the way it is suppost to and you have nothing to worry about.

yeah, but car part wise, i feel bad for shops who get a piece of shit turbo kit dropped off on their door that some kid bought on ebay to put on a car that barely runs right to begin with. after dumping labor into getting the car up to specs, then the shop has to tweak the manifold that will break, remake intercooler pipes, fit all the items that are suppose to but dont. so the kid gets teh bill, and labor is high-- but the car owner dont understand why b/c he has no clue that what he bought is junk and for more money he could have bought better parts that would not have had the labor time dumped in them.

then the kid dont have any fuel management for anything above 5 lbs of boost say. car leaves the shop running safely, but the kid ups the boost and blows the fucker up. who gets teh blame-- the shop.

hence why i dont build other peopels cars unless i get free reign over parts i can use.

well here is one instance for me at trying to buy from a local company here in jersey.

I have a gas hog Durango. the problem is that the factory infinity speakers are not worth a lick and i have one that keep blowing

so i went to numerous stereo shops listening to different speakers seeing what ones sounded the best. yes i was speaker kicking

well i found some awesome speakers from a company knowned as TWEETER here in jersey. well first off the FOCAL speakers sounded better than anything i heard. I had great speakers in the past so i know enough to get buy.

well while i was there the guy givre me a price. then drops the price of the speakers bye $100 dollars so at that point i am wondering what the mark up is on the speakers.

so i go back and do some research on the interent. these speakers are rare to find in the states as i found out or atleast noticed on my searches. while on my search i did a frrogle search and found all the speakers i wanted at 1/2 the price the store was going to sell me. so is it better for me to buy from the store or on the internet new with a warrenty?

as for buying anything like car parts. i always try to give the local guys a shot. if i need a part for one of my camaro’s i call JJs i try to give them fiorst shot. If i even find a cheaper price i would try to buy from them just cause of the record service etc. I just feel sometimes its stupid to pay twice as much for a part locally if you can find somewhere cheaper

thats just my .02
