Anyone had a sleep study done?

Has anyone ever had a sleep study done?
I’m always feeling tired. It don’t matter how much I sleep or what I eat or drink that day.
I’m 22 and I don’t sleep more than 8 hours, unless extremely hungover…

Alright more info
I sleep anywhere for 5-7 hours. 8 hours is sleeping in, but I feel no different.
I have 1 coffee in the morning / can or 2 of pop then iced tea or juice in the afternoon
I eat 1-2 meals a day lunch usually some fast food of some sort and a home cooked dinner.
I don’t set aside time to exercise but I’m ALWAYS doing something. 8am to 9pm I’m stocking parts carrying stuff up and down stairs wrenching on something.

I’m 5’9 @ 144 Ive been 144 sense 2006 the only weight variation i have is how much stuff is in my pockets or if I have boots or shoes on.

fyi, adults really are only supposed to get 7 hours/night

Sleep, what’s that? :frowning:

My old man did, turned out he would stop breathing for like 20 seconds during his sleep. He got one the the Sleep Apnea machines and has never slept better.

this is actually sort of common…they’re testing a lot of people for this nowadays

My father has sleep apnea as well but hates the machine. He has been doing better with sleeping though. Typically it’s only bad for him when he sleeps on his back (which he prefers) but if he’s on his side there is no snoring or pauses in breathing. When he had his study done he stopped breathing a ridiculous amount of times throughout the night, and several were close to or over one minute!!! Crazy stuff.

I feel like this thread needs more information. Diet, fitness/activity levels… that sort of thing.

FYI… I always feel ridiculously groggy when I coma for more than 7 hours. Too much sleep can be a negative thing.

8hr is nuts, I only sleep 4-5

Seriously… Stop whining about not sleeping more than 8 hrs. I wish I got that much.

I function much better on 6 hours as compared to 8 hours. When I get a “full night’s rest” I don’t have as much energy and it takes me forever to actually wake up and get going.

Yeah because we’re a country full of sedentary fat fucks.

Ditch alcohol and caffein and get some legit exercise (doesn’t count if you don’t break a sweat) every day and see if you don’t start sleeping like a baby.

The problem is that people stop breathing completely while they sleep, for somewhat long periods of time. A co-worker of mine had a mild form of this. He was not fat, drank only a bit of coffee in the morning. I know he does drink at home at night though.

Not medical science so take anything from this site with a grain of salt, but the ideas from ancestral/paleo health sources tend to be pretty solid. As long as you don’t become too fascinated with being able to say “I’m so paleo.” lol some people go nuts

My dad was overweight due to the fact he quit smoking, due to the fact he had 3 open heart surgeries (2 before he got his sleep machine). He had been snoring for years prior though.

Have you tried excercising/physical activities at all? Once I graduated I found my self in a daze all the time. It was becuase my body was used to 18 hours days and I was only pulling around 9 hours. Now I am in a hockey league and kicking ass on side projects. I get between 6-8 hours of sleep everyday and feel more energy than before.

Plus, you need to eat routinely.

In order for your body to rest you got to kick it’s ass once in a while. IMO.

“The more energy I spend, the more energy I have.”

Truth.

info added

Start by eating a breakfast with some sugars or fast acting carbs.

Remeber, food = energy. Fast food is NOT efficient food and caffeine without a meal is just going to cause you to crash. Eating home cooked at night is good, but by the time the next day comes around, you’re out of energy.

do this, and keep a log of energy levels. Every 1 or 2 hours, write down how you feel (jittery/sleepy/awake/ready for marathon/ready for bed/etc…).

Do this for 1 month then look at the results and see if you’ve improved.

Sounds like you’re in pretty good shape physically, other than adding breakfast to your routine. Are you depressed? Not depressed like sitting on the couch crying all day, but do you feel stuck in a rut and/or just generally unsatisfied? Obviously no need to answer that since it’s pretty personal, but even mild depression type feelings can sap your energy in a hurry.

Meh I don’t really care. I am on depression / anxiety medication. I’m not overly happy honestly, but I rarely find it on my mind. Only when I find out retarded people who do the work a monkey can be trained to do make more money than me and I have to fix there shit and answer there retarded fucking questions all day.

I’ll try breakfast and getting back into the routine of bringing my own lunch to work so its not fast food crap.

Could be the medication too
