Well for the past 6 or more months I’ve not had one full nights rest, during normal sleep hours. I stay up all day, and all night and only periodically throughout the day do I feel tired. Doing random things at home, I usually fall asleep.
I have normal amounts of energy and I do the same normal activities each day. Although when I do sleep it is damn near impossible for anyone or anything to wake me up.
I’d like to get this taken care of before I really start to fuck myself up.
Is there special doctors, or something like a sleep therapist that I could see to help take care of this?
Any input or personal experiences with similar problems would be much appreciated.
I know some of you are going to say go see my doctor, but honestly the guy is a dumb fuck and I honestly don’t even feel comfortable having him diagnose anything on me and I’d like to avoid going to him at all cost.
I have no problem seeing a specialist for this, even if it means paying twice as much as it would for me to see my regular “doctor”
I work nights (for ~1 year now), and have truly learned the value of sleep. You absolutely need it, and you don’t realize the damage you’re doing to yourself by not getting enough. At least 7 hours a day. If you’re getting less you’re doing irrepairable damage. Don’t take it for granted.
i have horrible insomnia. i sit in my room staring at the wall/tv (without realizing what is on) /my computer. i usually get to sleep around 9 or 10 am-ish. i work at 4 or 5 pm. i wake up feeling worse than when i went to sleep because i generally wake up every hour and a half or so. i’ve been this way for a few(7) years now. it sucks. i hope you find a solution to your problem. i notice that myself and 91mr2 are the only ones on here between 4 and 5:30 am. not sleeping sucks a D.
people are creatures of habit. If you sleep during the day then you wont be able to sleep at night. Your body learns the pattern, gets used to it, and follows it.
Force yourself to stay up during the day… no matter how tired you feel.
I get enough, most days, occasionally I run myself a little too lean though. I get enough sleep, and still make time to do the things I want to, it works out.
do you experience alot of stress? are you depressed? do you think about shit when your laying down trying to fall asleep?
the most common reason people experience insomnia is because they cant stop their thought process when trying to fall asleep. usually its caused by stress or depression. so if this is the case you should try to combat those conditions first before you resort to seeing a doctor thats just going to prescribe you sleeping pills.
the man with the clear conscience always gets the best nights sleep.
drink before bead, works for me, one or two beers, boom sleepy. There are also sleep study centers around, i had one done a couple years ago they attach sensors to various parts of yer face, body. helped.
Melatonin. It’s an herbal supplement. Take it half an hour to an hour before you’d like to go to sleep. You’ll be out.
I have delayed sleep phase syndrome (can only sleep from like 4-5am on) and i’ve been taking it ever since i got a full-time day job. Hasn’t failed me yet. When I tried not taking it one night, sure enough, couldn’t get to sleep before 4:30 for an 8AM wakeup.
I’ve never tried Melatonin but it helps develop normal sleeping patterns, so I would try it in your case.
I take diphenhydramine (Unisom, Walsom, Benedryl) to help me sleep. Knocks me out, keeps me sleeping throughout the night, and I usually wake up exactly 8 hours later without feeling groggy.
Hmm im going to have to look into that. I seriously have no chance of falling asleep before 4am it just wont happen. If i do try to ill lay there for like an hour then get pissed cuz i cant sleep which just makes me want to stay up very annoying.
I mean its pretty lame when i work at noon and have a hard time waking up on time or getting a descent nights sleep.
yeah its really cheap too. Got 300 pill bottle for like 6 bucks or something. I took 2 a night for the first week, now 1 is more than enough. For those of you that knew me, I hadn’t been to bed before 3AM or so for 5 years until a month ago, so I can’t say enough about the stuff.
Just be prepared for possibly wacky, really vivid dreams.
