anyone have the 'omg do you drift' stranger approach

so this has happened maybe 3 or 4 times, but the latest one i pull into a parking lot, get out of my car, and some dude goes up to me and says ‘yo is this t-o4 turbo’ i said ‘im sorry?’ and he said, you know the drift t04 turbo engine and i replied ‘um i dont know im not sure my friend modded this car not me’ and than they start asking me where i drift… man… its kinda annoying lol… i dont feel like telling random people whats going on with my car so i usually say its stock lol…

anyone else had this happen ? i think this is all the aftermovie effects lol

I like to Add-Lib as much as possible…

Question: “Yo, that thing got an SR20?”
Answer: “No man, V8!”

Question: “yo man, you drift?”
Answer: “Whats drifting?”
or
Answer #2: “no man, only drag racing for me!”

I hear you Vlad…after the movie came out all drift is related to that damn flick.

We gotta have some public education on the sport…I dont wanna be related with FF

the other day, at centennial college this kid pulled up next to me in the parking lot and rolled his window down and asked me if my S14 kouki was a Skyline. he was driving a grand prix… when i told him it wasn’t he looked really dissapointed and drove away.

this is new to you people i’ve been getting dos that have an sr for as long as i’ve owned it(3 year +) … i also often have asian dudes run up yealling is that a skyline…

lol… but i could see how an s13 would look like a skyline. if i squint really hard i guess it does… but not an s14… lol

tons of ginos in my area tend to approach me and ask if my car is a driftmachine, oh yeah they do ask if i drift, i tell them i can make the car forward and backward.

a year ago I was buying hoses at a parts place, when I showed the guy the hose I need to match he obligingly asks what car… so I told him and yep the first questions is, “so do you drift it?”

my response was something like “that’s not my goal” and then as he kept staring I added “…well I might someday” just to get him out of shock

haha, that happened to me as well once… pretty funny.

When I get people like that, I just give them way too much information and they leave.

Start rhyming off your turbo compressor’s A/R and the like.

Most people I run into are pretty cool though fortunately. It’s all attitude.

LOL @ S14 being a Skyline…

Phil and I pulled into Partsource one day and these two dudes there freaked out. One guy was on his phone to someone else and was saying “Yo guy, like these two crazy drift cars just pulled in here”

He then came into the store to tell me my car was idling really rough. I politely let him know it was fine and that the car has big cams…he had no idea what I was talking about.

It was actually pretty funny.

lol i can just imagine him going into the store and ask i think u forgot to turn off ur engine… but its just ur turbo timer hehe

When I had my S14, I got asked if I drifted only once (as the car was pretty much stock.) Since I’ve had my I30t, there has been two separate instances where kids asked me if I drift. ?! FWD FTMFW?! Both times was at Canadian Tire at Markham and 14th.

Wierd.

ya i get that all the time,

i tell them i drifted my first car off a cliff and im on #2 now.

ah yes drifto cliffo… gots to hate when that happens.

all you darned posers know you like it.

Andrew.

hahaha

that’s a good one… I’m gonna use it if I ever get a chance

I stick with the anal-retentative response;

“drifting on public streets is reckless and dangerous…” <-insert devilish smile here–

its a great feeling, hypocrasy…

I haven’t gotten that yet, but I get tons of people asking me “are you boosting?” “how much boost you running?” “is than an SR20?” “do you have a skyline motor in there?”

i dont get questioned, people just look at my fucked up car and ask where i race
