What Does the Signing of Arizona’s Immigration Bill SB1070 Mean for America?
Called one of the ‘toughest legislations in the nation’, the law means that all immigrants in Arizona must now carry their alien registration documents and it means that police can question anyone they think may be in the United States illegally. It will also address people that knowingly hire illegal immigrants or who transport them.
I’m asking opinions as a resident of Arizona, more so than an employee of the man.
Everyone in this state is all butt hurt about it. But if I were to go to Mexico, I would get harrased by the local police for being white. (and I say this due to experience)
They are called illegal immigrants for a reason. If your legal then there is nothing to worry about. About being “harassed” about your papers, you can technically blame the illegals, if they didn’t come here and start the immigration problem then this law would never exist. My belief is that we can no longer take this problem in stride, the illegals are taking advantage of our “give us your poor, hungry, weak” philosophy.
I agree with supry. I have no problem with it. If you are legal = no issues. I’m sure about everyone on this board has been pulled over one or 2x for no reason. Likewise, if your doing no wrong you have nothing to worry about. Maybe this will deter other illegals from coming over. There is a proper immigration procedure in place for a reason. 90%+ of our ancestors did it and did it the right way. If you don’t want to be bothered with the process then GTFO.
Why is that fucked up? I have been pulled over before and questioned about drunk driving for no other reason than it was after a bills game and i guess i look suspicous. i didnt mind it, so the cop was wrong about me, but at least he is making an effort to keep people from drinking and driving. Its the same thing in arizona; if i got pulled over and asked to prove i was a legal citizen, just so that the police can say they are not racial profiling, i wouldnt mind taking that time out of my day to prove i am infact a citizen, if it means the police can now go ask a mexican, or what ever race person whether or not they are legal. i think this is a great law and is long over do!
That’s a tough comparison, but I see your point. The real issue here is when people who are citizens are constantly being harassed over this because they don’t LOOK american, which is bullshit.

Of course the problem then becomes what about when police pull someone over for looking mexican but they actually are a citizen.
I’m really not going to express my opinion on here, because obviously it’s going to be biased…
The question at hand is…if this doesn’t work… what will?
Obviously illegal immigration is a problem, they don’t pay taxes, but they reap the benifits of people who do, IE; health care,public roads/transportation,police,fire etc etc.
And, no, police won’t be pulling people over because they are DWB (driving while brown) but they will if they show characteristics of an illegal (and yes,there is such thing)
It’s the same thing as swerving down a road at 3am, you’re going to get pulled over because the cop “thinks” you’re drunk…but if you’re not drunk, is this considered a violation of your 4th admendment?
they’re doing it wron. Instead of sending national guard troops and border patrol agents to iraq and afghanistan to protect their borders. tehy chouls be keeping them here. Last year some 500 troops participating in operation jump start (meant to defend our borders) were sent to iraq to help them secure their borders. Is this any way to encourage illegals to stop coming here?
once again jude andrew napolitano is a genius, i know its on the alex jones show but it was still a great interview and once again, most would find it difficult to refute the judges statements.
I don’t like that it’s come to needing a policy like this, but our inability as a nation to lock down our borders has forced Arizona’s hand. I can’t blame them one bit for taking this approach given their current situation.
I’m sure if the federal government did something deal with all the current illegals and stop the flow of new ones Arizona would be happy to repeal this law.
This seems about as constitutional to me as taxing people for NOT doing something (like buying health insurance.) Requiring citizens who look/act a certain way to carry papers?
Sedlmeier, I know you do this shit for a living. Help us out. How does someone act like an illegal? I’m not badgering you. I really want to know. All the commentaries I’ve seen in favor of this just say “Cops are highly trained professionals blah blah blah” but never actually explain what that training is. Plus the bill itself includes a specific measure protecting cops from the inevitable harassment lawsuits, which sort of proves to me that the lawmakers know that this is going to result in harassing citizens.
