Arrow Enterprises-Concrete Surfacing and Overlays

If your getting vertical movement with change of the seasons, this might not be the best option. My driveway had spider cracks but the surface was even. Some areas can be patched. Mine had some reasonable spalling and we were able to even out with this product.

My most recent. Custom vanity top to sort of match two tile colors in the bathroom. More pics to come when installed.

Awesome!

Can you give us an idea on price for this? For example, how much did your driveway cost? or a set of counter tops with your most common colors?

Let me respond as intelligently and informatively as possible.

Since we are in the early stages of producing projects with this product, we have a little time required to download the information from what we’ve done into a format that we can use to begin to establish some “baseline” pricing. Here are some of the variables that would come into play on both floor and countertop surfacing.

  1. Location of the project.
  2. Access to the area requiring surfacing.
  3. Preparation required to protect surrounding areas during the work.
  4. Intricacy of the design required.
  5. Number of colors required.

If you look at my previous posts, some floors were simple (like my driveway) and others were complex (like the salon floor with multiple patterns and colors). Overall size also makes a difference. Preparation is variable. When you look at the salon floor, we had to mask and protect every inch of every room. With my driveway, almost no protection was required.

Cougarspeed’s project was perfect as the kitchen was empty and the home was unoccupied and first floor. Every countertop job is going to be different and what we need to do to prep (removal of sink, drains, faucets, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.) will have a bearing on how much time it will take us to prep to do the actual work, and hence the cost. As a rule of thumb thus far, countertops re-surfacing itself is fairly standard in what it takes to produce, it’s just the other variables we cannot throw a guess at. Floors and driveways are another animal as you can see because the time involved in creating the patterns and colors is up to the customer since each one is made to order.

I am going to go out on a limb and put some basic pricing together for both the countertops and flooring, and I will stress that this is only a baseline to be adjusted at a later date and / or per individual project.

Countertops ($45-50 / sf.) for resurfacing of existing countertops.
($ 60-65 / sf.) for fabrication of new countertops from scratch.

Floors ($ 7-8.00 / sf.) for surfacing over existing surfaces
($10-12.00 / sf.) for surfacing over raw subflooring

Again, this is a guideline and I wouldn’t be able to charge one amount for a 10 x 10 driveway and the same for a 10 x 50 driveway. These are ballparks and if you feel this is a viable product for you, I would be happy to come out and provide a written estimate on a job by job basis. Again, this product has a niche and works for some situations and not for all. It has some benefits over certain products, and drawbacks against others.

Awesome! Thanks for the prices, I will be getting ahold of you around late july for some work (3 sets of kitchen counters at my rental prop) to do all at the same time.

Could you do something like this to a concrete slab porch? I would be interested to see what designs would be available if so.

Yes, it could be applied to the vertical faces as well. Again, the designs are limitless and figure the longer it would take to create a design, the more it would cost. My driveway, as an example, would be about the simplest design you could do with the exception of not staggering the grout joints to create the “brick” pattern. In retrospect, I could’ve also made the tiles bigger, but I think they look OK at their current size.

I liked your driveway quite a bit…

Placeholder bump for the work done on our laundry area at the rental property. Seriously impressive stuff. Looking forward to seeing it in person tonight.

Much improved sir. Hope you like it.

OK, BR isn’t going to post up pics so I will. Hopefully he can update with his pics when he gets the painting and new appliances installed.

Seriously amazing, the transformation in there.
The work is absolutely first rate.

Heading up that way around 2 this afternoon. Going to run a proper dryer vent, get moulding around the one door, door hung, and get that place painted. Might as well do new outlets, switches and lighting while I’m at it. I was going to leave it mostly alone until I saw the floor. Look what you made me do!

Can this go over a painted Concrete floor?

I would feel more comfortable stripping the paint, but if it was really sound and bonded to the concrete, I don’t see an issue.

Got a referral through a friend of mine and he requested a countertop to match Black Galaxy Granite. Since Black Galaxy has larger reflective minerals we had to employ a product we hadn’t used before, Mica chips. I’m not exactly sure what they’re made of but I would liken them to drops of silver solder shaved into various sized pieces. Although it is not a complete match for the mineral particles inherent in the actual stone, it is the closest we could get. We also added some silver sparkle and just a hint of copper, as per the customer’s request. The fine speckles are only visible in person, the camera just doesn’t pick them up.

The original countertop was a white laminate top with the “leather” texture. Customer opted for a smooth edge instead of the “natural” edge which I prefer. If anyone asked me for this black countertop again, I would simply warn them that just like a black car, the gloss black shows imperfections and general everyday dust very readily. All in all, I liked the way it came out but it’s not my favorite.

Sorry for some of the photo’s. The mirror finish tends to pick up light from numerous sources and really is a nightmare to photograph.

PS-The customer wanted to wait until the countertop was in before choosing the backsplash tile. Hope it’s not going to be black.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that he’s Italian.

Irish actually. Exception to the rule.

After weeks of wavering back and forth the customer finally settled on a backsplash for the countertop. Thank God it wasn’t black. Was a combination of polished glass, matte glass, and “cracked” glass mounted on 12 x 12 mesh. The only funky thing about the cracked glass tiles was that they would tend to shed pieces of cracked glass during installation and grouting. Overall, came out pretty well.

not sure how I feel on the combination. The countertop looks awesome, I think I’d do the same thing in my kitchen. The outlets and faceplates need to be updated.
