we dont need threads like these… so what if other sites have more info, and talk less crap. this is what SON is all about !! (joke). I feel that SON is good cause i can discover the 240 community near where i am. E-fights will always continue to happen on forums, it helps balance out the world (and gives non-arguers something fun to read in the evenings) i would blabber on more about this, but my head hurts. and i really want cookies now…
im sure people can settle there differences in other ways. And its better to settle them than not, because i dont want to be at a meet where there are a fights a brewin’. (other than pavel vs. bryan, lol) it just takes away from the whole point where all here. FOR THE LOVE OF THESE CARS!
i still come on here often, mostly for the buy/sell section. for information, i go elsewhere. this site really is a joke to me. a few of the older members showed me a while back that they didn’t want me as a member of their club (long story), so i won’t be any time soon. probably wouldn’t be anyways as i’m looking to buy an FC now instead of a rust-bucket 240, but i digress. even if i did buy a 240SX i would probably not pay the money just to say i supported this sorry-ass forum.
and this is pretty much the image that’s coming off to alot of newer members. if you want your club to stay small and stay a group of friends as it is, then keep being assholes to every “n00b” that signs up and scare them away. but if you want SON to become SOMEthing, then i think something needs to be done. i won’t say what because i don’t really care and it’s up to you to decide really.
disclaimer: my thoughts above to not reflect on all paying members of SON. there are people in the club who i have no problem with.
id be interested to see who wanted this club to head more towards a performance related club…
i for one would love it to go that way… this board has a lot of “chatting” and it gets annoying… for every 1 good post theres 10 bullshit ones.
Id love to see the board turn into something where people were where to knowledge in racing and engine tech, suspension geometry, etc… and have people sho up to track events to work on their lines, gain knowledge in how their new mods worked out and tune the car to better suit their driving style… instead we get 10 people looking for kouki tails and drift knobs.
if you want somethign like that then hit ebay or go to drifitng.com to find what your looking for.
i know for 1 every time i need some help or advice nobody has an answer and i’m forced to try it out myslef. I’d love to see more helpful people willing to post FAQ’s and answer the complex questions…liek will a ca ignitor work on a SR.

Bob, way back when me and Derek organized with Philip to pay the membership fee when the forums were going payed. A hand full of us guys were ready to pay when a big thread was started going against it. Philip got frustrated and resigned. This was going to be Philip’s first step to going full membership with SCCA. I still don’t fully understand the impacts that this would have brought and will never know now.
Sufice to say Bob, I supported it even though I didn’t totally understand it at the time. I didn’t even own a 240 yet. That was over 2 years ago and I still support going that route. Even if it doesn’t include the SCCA route.
So in brief don’t say that I helped mess the club up. I supported the step forward and have discussed it with Philip many times before. He is still bitter about it.
We talked with him and Adam and tried to do it again… and no one except a few wanted to go that way… and if it were up to me, we would have split the fing club up right there and told them to choose one or the other… but no one liked that idea either… we made special forums, again people bitched and moaned and it got canned…

I know…thats the frustrating part. We didn’t have enough support to make it worth while. But the question to ask yourself…is do we now?

If people leave as a result of a change, then thats too bad… Because at least then we could have improved the club with direction instead of keeping it in limbo like it is now…
