The only reason I’m back is because most of my team is still caught up in this crap…

Dre is inconsistent, and you know G scans this place less and less… S14 seems to do an excellent job…

That means that your influence is far weaker which is a good thing because of the poor decisions spawned frm you.

Bob I don’t want to attack you, but don’t take this personally. We have had some good discussions in person about things and I think your a decent guy. But you need to admit that for a time you did talk down to alot of people and thought you were high up there. I for one am glad your here. The more of us that leave the more this club slides.

We continue to beat the bush on this subject like once a month. Noone is happy with the way things are. Bing your not totally happy either, and don’t say you are. We have a good and large amount of guys that actually care. I will say it again, screw the other people. This club is here to serve us not the passer-by. Bing I gave you $35 for membership last year cause I felt I owed it to the club even though I was pissed about things. You seemed to be taking control of things. This has now change and shit has slid.

Can we simply start carrying about our group of probably 100 guys now that actually care and would pay membership and stop worrying about the outsiders?

We have enough people to make this club payed membership. I keep preaching this :lol:

It will be the only change worth while. Can we start organizing events for next season now?

I really am simply tired of walking in circles. I keep saying the same thing, and I think Bob agrees with me as well.

The only way we can make a performance section of this club, is to have a splinter section or another forum…

Except people get offended if they aren’t included… we tried it and it failed… everyone likes the ideas of clubs with big numbers… but big numbers dont make clubs… the people who work at it are what make the clubs…

there have been tons of people that have joined recently that both you and i will become good friends with in the future. if we closed our doors then we risk losing those opportunities.

in the late 1800’s the head of the US patent office was quoted as saying something along the line of:

“everything that will ever be invented has probably already been invented”

that was before TV / internet / commerical flight / and nissan 240sx’s

Andrew, i dont have control over this site by any means but i can tell you that i am optimistic and that i am happy with SON

the reason for that is because i dont give a $hit about the cars that are being built or the clubs that are being formed on the side, i care about meeting new people with similar interests and enjoying the company of those people.

i like when Cahill, or you or Ted comes to niagara and gives myself a call, or chris and jason and we meet up and shoot the shit and go for a cruise

i like when i have a problem i msn to adam or bob and get the answer in 2 minutes

i like when i need to find a deal on a part 10 people have already gone through the same thing…

i like being able to help members new and old when i can, although my strength is not tech stuff

it seems to elude most people that THIS is the purpose of the club and that is why it is as good as ever to be a part of SON240sx.ca

ah, the 240’s are being put away and now its time to reflect and complain about the son240sx club and take our frustration of not having our car out towards the club.

Last time this happened, was exactly a year ago i think.

Sorry to tune in kind of late here, but I have a few comments after sifting thru the whole thread.

It wasn’t only Bing that was opposed to this club turning into a performance oriented club. At the planning meeting that Adam had at his house before Philip, David and himself left, it was discussed. The basic view was that a majority of SON’s members at the time didn’t have the money/knowledge/driving skill to be part of a performance based club. There was also the club fee which was significantly higher than a lot of member’s could afford. Thus, the interest in the idea was not enough for it to happen, I remember the club insurance issue was also a key factor. The senior members (club leaders) wanted to get insurance to cover club events so that they could not be held liable if someone was to crash or get injured at an event they organized. This was a good idea, but it added more expenses to the membership fee, and a lot of the younger members didn’t really see a reason for it.

Basically what I am saying is that there were a lot of factors involved in running a well organized club, and at that time I don’t think it was possible for the club to take that route due to the lack of support. Adam, Philip and David knew this. After pushing their idea for too long without making any headway they decided that it wasn’t worth it, as it was they had already invested a great deal of time and money into the club.

Also, with any group of people, there will be disagreements, some people will contribute more, and some will just mooch of others, like I said earlier, change is not easy.

Nik, this couldn’t be more true.

It seems during the winter people work on their car less because it is cold,
and then come on the forum for entertainment.

Maybe this isn’t the case, but thats what seems to happen during the
winter months. People get bored, come on SON240SX and post irrelevant
or off topic crap, flame each other, bicker, and moan.

I’m not saying I don’t like the bitching and whining, its good actually,
because if you guys never express the problems you see with the club,
then I can never even attempt to fix them.

Time after time, the idea of the performance oriented club has been
discussed, and then scrapped. The reason? We don’t have the right
people on this board to make it work. If everyone wants to just chit-chat
then that kind of club won’t work for our kind of members.

If you guys would like, we could rearrange the forums with some
performance sections, and moderate like nazi’s to keep all the chat out.
That is the only thing I can think of to move the forum in that direction
without driving half of the club away.

Until everyone shows the kind of maturity that the senior guys at NEO
or on other boards show, thing won’t change much. In order to make that
happen, everyone has to want it, and everyone has to make an effort.

If we can get things on the forum on-track, then maybe enough interest
for real racing affiliations will surface and we can do that.

There are a few threads in our Admin section which we are discussing
ATM, and I will add something like this to it.

If you have ANY ideas on how to improve the club, please just shoot me
a PM. It will only take a second, and it CAN make a difference.

Its simple. At the moment I use the club for the following:

1)entertainment
2)buy/sell

For all car related items I browse UK boards and smaller american boards of which I will not mention. When I post on those boards I get nothing by help and guidance and have good techincal discussions.

I would rather come here to have good technical discussions, but it won’t happen and I know it. Thats what I will have to live with. But as long as SON is here and I’m screwing with 240’s I’ll be here. I don’t care if its shit, maybe oneday things will take a turn in the right direction.

i just joined the forums about 7 months ago, so maybe im a newb here on son, so what i havnt been around since the yahoo days, i’m starting to meet people from here on a weekly basis, i met matt before i was on son and same with M, they convinced me to join up, now im here , ive met bing , and hung out with him a few times, ive met iquabob, hes cool shit, if u guys werent letting anybody new onto this forum i highly doubt any of this would have happened ,

I know you guys well enought to be confident that we can solve these issues. We could maby also try to make a time line of things that we as a club can get acomplished. This club is great. I have meet so many good people and I verry proud to be here. I am the first to admit that I am not a big contrubuter at all when it comes to information. but Guys come on.
lets just meet in person, talk it over, get drunk and rent a stripper.

On LSS, when it got out of hand with noobs, and turned into a “social scene” insted of our “street scene”… they just issued warnings when ppl said rediculous things, or bashed ppl…or were just all around retards.

I don’t know about others so I will only speak for my self, I for one am happy with our forum, I have met many, many people through this club and I have yet to meet one I didn’t like. When I first joined this club I got flamed and picked on… ofcourse let’s pick on the new guy right?.. I didn’t sit there and complain and cry about it, I took it like a man and the odd time I flamed back but that doesn’t matter because after I talked with some of these people that flamed we were able to work things and discovered they were prety cool respectable people and we were able to burry our differences. Sometimes I can’t blame some of the old timers for being the way they are. They have been here for a long time and have put a lot of time and effort into this club and then they get some noobs that just joined don’t know what is going on but they want to run the show and talk shit. Im not saying all noobs are bad, we were all a noob at somepoint, but being new and trying to run the club and talking shit doesn’t make you any friends around here. You have to respect the rules and regulations set out by the club and go with the flow. Yes there are somethings this club may need to improove with but it can’t all be done over night it takes time and effort. At the same time you can’t please everyone, even if a change is made for the better there will still be people that will find reasons to complain and cry about it. That’s why I think it’s a good idea to have votes when there has to be a change.
People have to keep in mind that nothing is perfect I have never been to any forum where everyone is happy, there will always be something.
This flaming that goes on needs to come to a stop it is so childish and it’s just BS. It is not good for the club and one thing I have noticed is when there is people that have beef with one another they never come to meets because they don’t want to because they have beef with someone who is coming. For those people all I can say is “Just look at your self…big man behind the computer but when it comes to meeting those you flame you put your tail between your legs and coward out” I think sometimes it’s better to meet the people you have beef with that way you can work out your differences face to face and talk things over, if someone get’s into a fist fight over shit said on the forum then you are a class A loser. The last meet I organized (2004 Final Meet and Cruise) http://forums.son240sx.ca/viewtopic.php?t=7448 http://forums.son240sx.ca/viewtopic.php?t=7784&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 there were a few people ( I wont mention any names) that contacted me and said “I will come if ------- doesn’t come” of " I can’t come because I have beef with ---------" This is bullshit! This is what I have beef with, how come I can get along with everyone and others don’t. If I have a problem with someone and someone has a problem with me I always work things out and that way I have no beef with anyone. I do what ever I can for the club, I gladly payed my $20.00, I gladly set up a meeting in October, I will gladly set up another next Spring, I gladly hook up people with deals on what ever I can hook them up with.
People just have to learn to get along and learn to participate and when I say participate I mean participate in club event’s etc. come out meet the members have fun and enjoy being in the club,I don’t mean try to run the show. Being in the club is not just posting things up in the forum, there is more to it then this, the club also exists outside of the internet, this is just a form of communication and keeping in touch as well as a form of getting help from other members and having some fun. But the real fun is at the meets and events and that’s were this club is lacking. We had an okay turn out for the June Niagara meet, we had a great turnout during my Final meet and cruise and we had a low turnout for the go kart meet and it all could of been so much better if people just participated even is some one they didn’t like was going, who cares put your differences aside and come out and have fun. That’s my only beef, it’s the lack of participation. So to wrap it all up all I got to say is " This club is a great club, it is not perfect , nothing is, maybe one day it will and to make it perfect we all have to do our part, follow the rules and regulations, stop flaming each other for stupid things, get along and step up don’t just hide in the shadows, come out to meets,meet one another, it is so much better when you can put faces and cars to screen names and for those who want respect, respect can only be earned". You want to earn respect step up to the plate and do something good for your club, become a member and start participating my friends I guess what Im trying to say is be a team player. And this just costed me big money because Im writing this at work and for the past hour I have done absolutely nothing! :lol: Okay my fingures are getting tired. I never post this much but I guess I just had to get some things off my chest.
