B-16? B-18?

WHat do you think is better for a crx, a B-16 motor or a B-18 motor? I know B-18 has more horsepower but its also more expensive…

b-18 ls doesnt have more hp than a b16. and what b16 are you looking at? i believe there are b16’s as far back as obd0

b18c has more horsepower than the b16 but not much

the b18c makes more tq. you can get a b16 in obd0 with a cable tranny for the crx. depending on your mods you wanna do later on is what you should consider. id say ls-vtec persoanally :blue:

There is a 93 LS (cable shift) integra at arden junkyard near your house. I cant see it being very much for the whole swap parts because that place is closeing. Hit me up I know the dudes there and can get you a deal…

B18 B18 B18

You can’t go wrong with more displacement.

like a v-8? :booty:

I’m with this guy. You wanna go with more displacement. I remember reading some where that a car with an LS swap vs. the same car with B16 swap in a quater mile race, that the LS would beat the B16. Thats because the LS has more torque.

I would go with that Aaron is saying. Im guessing that u have a CRX. Well if you do, you can use the Cable tranny from the integra cuz the CRXs have cable trannys. They only problem would be the engine cuz you would have to use a jumper harness to go from OBD1 -> OBD0. Thats because you car is OBD0 and the integra is OBD1.

Yes, but v-8’s don’t fit in civics very easily. :embarassd

quiet! before you give him another idea for a race car.

B18

I got a pic of a crx, REAR Wheel drive . With a stroked v8. Things badass on the 1/4

someone will just want it!!! :burnout:

i happen to know of a fully swapped 91 civic hb for 900 bucks. has a good tranny that just needs installed. its my friends car and its already got the b mounts and obd0 so you would be all set plus you would have a ef parts car for 900 bucks. of course i could give you the number if i get a nice little finders fee like some pizza, beer, or 20 bucks :boink

saw this today “its a 90 crx si with a stock b16a no bolt ons it ran a 14.79 on street tires”

i good stocker ls can do that, they are both good motors, for the money i would pick up a b16, then down the road build a 1.8 or 2.0 and slap the b16 head on…pening on boost or all motor…

B16 revs smooth. I would take the road less traveled. B16

Going with the b16 is actually probably the best idea because like fmf said you can pop in a bigger bottem end when the money comes.

If you start with ls, then decide you want vtec your gonna need computer, vtec head, and transmission.

If you start w. b16, all you really need is to source an ls bottem end. (around 100) and you can slowly build up a nice bottem end to throw in there. You will already have a computer, the vtec head, and the TRANSMISSION! (ls sucks)

The B16 road got wore out about 6 years ago. But still, starting with a b16 swap then switching in a 1.8 or even better a sleeved 2.0 liter block down the road with cams is a very good way to go.

speaking of this…i went to NJ this past weekend to visit family…ther eis guy that works @ this deli near my grandparents place that has a EF with a JDM b16 swap…decent shap from what i could see, lowered on steelies, exhaust, CF hood, needs new windshield teg seats, …he said he was asking 2K…said the motor had 23K miles on it when he got it.

i didn’t really get into it cause he was working, but could get anyone a number if they were interested.

I always like the B187 it aitn no joke and can’t be stepped to…just my $.02
