b16 pouring out oil from the back?

well maybe someone can help me with this one.

I brought the motor from oasis who brought it from shrek.
I had everything installed and sent to start the motor. and it started for 5 sec and oil just started to pour when i mean pour i lost about 1 quart of oil in 5 sec out the back side of the engine. I couldnt see where it was coming from.

Does anyone know where it might be coming out of?
i havent check anything. as oil were all over the place i will do so today i just need to get a feeler of where i have to start to check.

What else on the back side of the motor could have oil pouring out
I will check the oil filter to see if its on tight tonight

Check oil pressure switch ??? above oil filter

If that oil pressure has a sensor on it yes its connected and there. I can also double check that. I mean it poured out the engine.

you didnt hook up the catch can did you lol there is 2 -6 an fittings out the back thats the problem im guessing

Ill also double check that today. But the catch ca is installed. I hope just the hose came loose or something.

ok, so they’re not AN fittings, but here they are. good luck

make sure there is only 1 oring on the oil filter and someone didnt forget to remove the old when installing the new. happens all the time.

couple places could be possible:
oil pressure sensor
the catch can part posted above
or where the black box used to be and now either its gone or not tight

My first guess is the filter, then oil pump? The vent shouldnt “pour” oil out

oil filter or rings?

this.

We all got it wrong. It coming from where the head meets the block and transmission bell housing…
Please don’t tell me its a crack block…that would make me pretty upset…
Can someone please tell me it could be a easy fix.

Head gasket on wrong? Or severely warped head.

Its NOT the breather plugs for a catch can weather you have them or not, and its def not the black box. There is NO WAY in hell THAT much oil can come out of those places in that amount of time.

Your problem is most likely one of two

  1. Filter being double O-ringed because of the ring prior to the filter that has been once replaced has stuck to the block orr
  2. The head gasket is put on wrong/backwards, this would plug up certain oil passages going form the block to the head causing this much oil in that amount of time to go squirting and pouring out.

ask him^ how he knows…

:word: your kidding right? lol check for the head gasket tag thingy to verify its not on backwards.lol

where should the tab be? drive side front/rear or Passenger side front/rear? on the head?

right by the front of the head and block stamp (uner vtec solenoid) should be a silver tag thats part of the headgasket

Look at some pics and diagrams online, look where their tab is VS yours.

This is the only pic I could find. Are GSR and B16 head gaskets the same?
I guess if there’s only 1 out of 2 ways to put it on I’d pick the wrong one :gotme:
