battery relocation question

These are the plugs that usually go on your positive terminal, now that the battery is in the trunk do i just cut these plugs off and tap them in to the battery wire…

yeah, they just need to get constant battery power.

ya starter-alt needs power

I’ve been thinkin about relocating my battery too. what’s the best gauge wire to use. and what’s the best battery to use?

Couple things to consider when relocating the battery to the trunk.

  • If you are going to use a non sealed battery then you need a battery box in the trunk.
  • Biggest wire you can afford, I did 0 gauge however some people think thats a bit overkill.
  • In the engine bay I got a 0 Gauge junction box, to split it out to 4 gauge wiring that goes to the fuse box, starter and alternator. I rewired straight to the starter and alternator, not just splicing into factory wiring. I took apart the lower harness and replaced the power wire (USDM wiring seems a bit too small for my liking, actually the JDM harness I got with my clip had larger gauge cables in it anyways)
  • Put a 100 AMP fuse inline in the trunk off the battery, I got mine from a car audio shop.
  • Keep your ground as short as possible in the trunk and find a good clean location.

Meh, with battery technology today I think the whole deal is a waste of time and money. Battery box, heavy gauge, ripping apart interior, drilling fuck that.

I just scooped one of the Braille carbon fiber lightweights 6lbs. 6oz to replace the BuddyClub Racing spec that only weighed 12lbs. Optima has one coming out too super tiny with like 600CCA. Big batteries are for SUVs.

Done and done, Dave, how much do those batteries go for?

$220USD

I have hookups so anyone down for a group buy?

I’d be done depending on the final price. Also, how many would you need for a group buy?

Well we know shipping would be cheap…that shit is only 6.4lbs! I’ll hit up the owner today and see whats up with like 10-20 order, I know GT-R guys wanna teabag the mini battery I have now, so they will really like the CF ones too.

Plus the GT-R tray is far in front of the axles which is gay.

I used 0 gauge, a distribution block, fuse holder with a 150amp and everything works perfectly. No drilling was required.

Sounds great Dave

Found this. Pretty much just the same as our 240s would wire up.

So you just electric-taped it all up at one connection point and then run the CABLE to the back? Should you elaborate on what you’ve done? Cause I’m doing the same thing right now whats the cleanest way to do this…

How much does a Distribution Block run for?

Wouldn’t the starter/alt not perform aswell when it’s no longer directly connected to the battery? being more down the line i mean…

Sorry for thread jacking, but what mats did u use to make the custom CAI?

I cut a Racative High-flow intake in half from a Integra GSR 2nd-Gen(1989–1993) to get my piping. then you’ll need a coupling to fit the 3" piping to the MAFS adapter. And a maf adapter. and a little electrical tape to widen nose’s for which the two vacuum hose slip onto.

When I put my front mount in this spring, instead of relocating my battery I ended up using a riding lawnmower battery turned 90 degrees to how the original battery sat. It takes up pretty much exactly half the space of the stock battery. I have not had trouble with it at all not even running my stereo. I never leave the stereo with the car off for fear of draining it, but it always starts right up. It should also be noted that this is only a summer car as the battery only has like 250ish CCA. I also bought 2 lawnmower grounding cables because my battery cables would not reach the other side of my battery tray and they also work well to connect to the battery terminals. I ran the positive one to a car stereo distribution block and ran all of the wire to that. Another plus was the battery was only like $60 for a name brand battery at Part source. If anyone wants pictures I can take some over the next couple of days.
