BB Storm

I use it when I am out and about and need to grab some songs off p2p or download some crap to my phone so I have it.

Not a fan of pulling 1GB of data down from a P2P site over the cell network.

boxxa

go look at evdo rev a speeds.

I was. All good now. I was getting email to the phone but I wasn’t able to send mail from the phone. Turns out that users with Domain Admin access in Active Directory (that would be me and my boss) need to apply Send As permissions differently for the BESAdmin account.

Then when trying to browse the Internet from the phone, it was asking for authentication to our ISA proxy server. Turns out I forgot to add the BESAdmin account to our Internet group.

Everything works like a champ now. Oh and the 4.7.0.75 OS is a HUGE improvement over the shipping OS. I compared both side by side and the one with the updated OS moved much faster. No lag at all.

keep us posted.

Very cool. I cant wait to get the phone and start dicking around with BES. The wait is killing me, i wish i could stab that bitch who processed my origional order but never ordered the phone. Same exact thing happened to Chino.

why are you downloading 1gb files on a cell phone ? thats what computers are for

yea fuck them

Anyone on here really good with BES? I’m stumped on one thing.

just got my email confirm - should be here thursday… at least they didn’t fuck this purchase up so bad that it came after the 15th.

I use it weekly but i wouldnt say im an expert… Whats your deal?

Running v.4.1.6.9 BES.

I send myself two emails from an outside account. One called ‘Delete - Outlook’ and one called ‘Delete - BB’. Both emails arrive in Outlook. About a second or two later, they hit the BlackBerry. K. No worries. I delete the ‘Delete - Outlook’ message in Outlook, but the message remains on the BlackBerry. I can delete the ‘Delete - BB’ message on the BlackBerry and it will be removed in Outlook. The ‘Delete - Outlook’ message remains on the BlackBerry until I go into the menu and hit ‘Reconcile Now’ at which point everything syncs up and looks like it should. I researched into this and found there was an option on the BES called ‘Hard Deletes Reconciliation’ which controls this very feature. It was set to ‘False’. I set it to ‘True’. But it still doesn’t work. I thought maybe the cache had to clear for the BlackBerry router so I shut it down, waited 20 minutes, then fired it back up. Still same thing. I even rebooted the server just to make sure. I’m noticing this with our two Storms. I haven’t looked at the 8830 we have but I presume it’s doing the same thing.

For email reconciliation phone is set to:

Delete on: ‘mailbox and handheld’.
Wireless reconcile: ‘ON’
On conflicts: ‘mailbox wins’

Let me know if I wasn’t clear enough here or if more info is needed.

It sounds like how we have ours set up and i never noticed the issue. Unfortunately i manage the BES here but my company will not buy me a blackberry so i cannot set up the same scenario in front of me. It might be worth it looking at the 8830 also just to be sure since it has a different OS and the storm may have bugs still.

Ya I’m running both OSs for the Storms and it doesn’t seem to change the issue at all. I’m going to grab the 8830 first thing in the morning and try it on that. I’ll post up what I find.

Yeah I think it may give you different results because the differences in the OS between the storm and 8830… At least in my mind they are completely different.

i doubt this is a phone issue more-likely server side…

i don’t know though because i don’t use BES, just sounds like it is a server config issue, it should push updates to the device (at least windows mobile does this with exchange)

mine comes friday…i broke down and bought it

wtf how did you just order it and get it right away? thought all order placed after the 24th of nov were going out the 15th of december.

verizon is fucked. if you get yours before robhimself i think rob needs to go burn down a verizon store.

Word, especially since i ordered mine 3 days before the fucking launch!

So more testing this morning. I think I’ve found it. I get a message in Outlook. Second or so later, it hits the BlackBerry. If I PERMANENTLY delete the message in Outlook (shift key + delete key, removing it completely from the Mailbox), the message is removed from the BlackBerry in about a minute or so. If I just delete the message (delete key, moving the message to the Deleted Items folder), then the message stays on the BlackBerry. It’s not until I empty the Deleted Items folder that the message is removed from the BlackBerry. Odd the way that works…

At least I know why it does it now. I’m becoming a self taught BES expert!

that is odd… my users have it deleted even if its in the deleted items folder. It takes some time to reconsile. Have you let it sit?

I let it sit for about 10 minutes. Maybe I’m just too impatient?
