Just looking for some opinions… or stories on what works. I figure i eat a lot… and drink a decent amount too, so i gotta either eat healthy so i can drink alot, or eat crap and stop drinking as often. It’s a hard choice… i doubt i could give up both.
I voted both. You don’t have to give up either one because there are alternatives. I would hate to give up beer but if I had to diet, there is always Mich Ultra. As long as you drink it in moderation it is better for you than drinking a Guiness or Sam Adams, just not nearly as good tasting. As far as food goes there are plenty of things you can do to diet that won’t take to much away from you. DO NOT DRINK SODA. Also, instead of fries have broccoli or even cole slaw. Cut back on the snack food. If you drink whole or 2% milk, bring it back to skim or at most 1%. Broiled fish, chicken and some turkey should be the only meat you eat while on a diet.
Beer has a lot of calories in it, anywhere from 250 to 400 per glass depending on size, type… Typical adult male needs about 2000-2500 calories per day to maintain body weight (this is the basal metabolic rate, assuming little or no exercise).
If you’re more active (like when you run your Swifty trains) you may need more calories per day. But if you think about it, 2 cans of beer per day can easily bring you over the amount you need per day and weight starts to creep up.
Beer calories are pretty empty calories too, not much nutritional value but they just stay on you… No need to give it up, just figure out what you can cut back on.
Of course cutting back on beer alone won’t do a thing if you’re eating fried and fatty foods left and right. Whatever you’re buying at the grocery, take a look at the total calories, and then look at the calories from fat as well. The ratio of calories from fat / total calories per serving should be 25% or less.
Lastly, one thing that works for me is to find a good tasting fairly healthy meal at restaurants that don’t really have healthy food. For example, I’ve grown to like the fajitas at Red Robin- it’s tasty but a lot less damaging then any of their burgers.
Im in the same boat, ever since ive stopped playing football ive gained a good 35 lbs. Beer and food (if eating unhealthy) combined with no exercise = weight gain and bad health. If you want to drink, rum and diet cokes, something like that, liquour is the way to go. Stop eating at fast food resturaunts, try eating chicken, fish, vegetables and fruit. Losing weight is easy for guys, all you do is burn more calories then you take in (if your eating healthy) theres no real diet that truely works, its just how you stick to what your doing and work your balls off to loose the weight.
Amen, not enough people realize this.
Also don’t forget that even under a decent workout plan, where you do indeed use more calories a day then you take in, don’t expect a weight loss of more then one pound a week.
Also there is no such thing as spot training. If you want that six pack to show doing 1000x crunches a day won’t help you. You have to lose body fat over the entire body by bringing your BF % down in order for it to show.
Metabolism also plays a large role, so in order to keep it active eat breakfast (It is indeed the most important meal of the day) to kick off the metabolism and follow it up by 5 small other small meals through out the day. Try to not weight till you’re starving because after millions of years of evolution when you’re starving your body will try to conserve and preserve any food (into fat) it gets because it thinks there is a shortage.
Eat small meals, eat less, do cardio, keep track of general idea of your daily calories.

Eat small portions… do it 5 times a day (keep metabolism going) and no carbs after 12pm noon. Drop sugar from your diet (even equal) completely for faster results.

If you’d rather not sacrifice your diet, just try to be more active. Get a gym membership or start jogging/biking/something on a regular basis. Even if you continue eating/drinking the way you currently do, but increase your activity level, you’ll lose weight. Just burn more calories than you take in.

<There lol, finally startin to get it off. I started goin to the gym for about 5-6 months hard before i fucked up my leg, worked awesome, cut out ALL soda, fast food etc, went from 230lbs to best of 195, of course now im back to 205 but still better than before. Gotta get back on the horse soon.

join a gym and gain some muscle. A pound of muscle uses 60 calories a day just maintaining itself.
