Hey guys I just wanted some input from you as you what you have done when removing the hicas lines and reservoirs etc.
I know that you can go with a non-hicas PS pump and reservior, which I will, but for now I just want to block the lines. I blocked them with some clamps and a small piece of rubber house capped at the end with clamps on that as well. However the pressure from the PS pump is too great and it severely leaked, draining most of my fluid.
What other remedies have you guys used for capping the lines?
I literally just did this with my car and had the same pressure build up that you have. What I did was Cut off the Hicas line right at the pump (the banjo fitting). Took the fitting off, welded the hole shut and reinstalled the banjo fitting. Any kind of rubber hose/blocker/clamps will NOT suffice for this line. for the rubber hose coming off the resivoir you can just clamp that off with a bolt/hose and some clamps, theres no pressure there.
After i did this, there was so much pressure in the pump due to the extra hicas fins that when i got into high rpms the fluid would blow off from one of the fittings. So you have to take the pump out, remove the rear section and with a magnet slide out the 8-10 little square fins. Very easy job. Then you will be leak free.
Yea I was going to weld that bolt solid and reinstall. Good to know about the fins as well though. I think I remember reading that somewhere on nico before maybe. I think there is a write up for it.
Did you weld that actually hole in the bolt shut or just the banjo fitting hole?
All i did was weld the hole in the banjo bolt that goes to the rear, and then put it back in the hole…remove everything elese…and if you wanna use hicas resiviour just weld that hole too…working well for me so far no leaks, oh yeah and remove the fins from the pump.
Shouldn’t take long at all and by doing this you cancel out any pressure what so ever coming from the rear side of the pump. There for, eliminating the hicas function.
