I will agree on the Lexus LS460…They are fucking awesome. I hope to own one some day.
BUT…
Your list is wack. The brand new 750/760iL’s are one of the best luxury/big body cars I’ve driven. I’ve driven a few 2010 750iL’s and they are, IMO, the best big body. Then I’d say the A8L for sure.
I talked to a couple friends, one used to work in parts/service at a local Audi dealer for a few years and he said the earlier A8’s had transmission issues in some. I imagine like you guys said, it’s all how the vehicle was maintained and cared for. Every car has it’s problems at some point in it’s life. I think I’ll do more research and see how I feel about it in the spring.
That two door you posted is nasty, Kramer. That might be a little out of my price range though lol.
Panamera’s are pretty sick. Totally forgot about them.
I can’t believe Top Gear said this (basically) about the car, “The Panamera is FAST. But fails at everything else.”
I think it’s an awesome car all around.
And K20, I personally think German cars are over-rated. The A8, 7 series, and M are on the same level. I don’t see anything that other two do better than my car (only thing they have on my car is they are long base). If I had every package Infiniti offered, I’d have just as much bells and whistles as those cars. Not to mention, german cars in general seem to break a lot more than Japanese cars. If I didn’t mess with my Maxima’s engine, that thing would have been 100% till the day I sold it at 101k. My M has 50k now (got it at 30k) and not a single problem and I push the car hard. Nothing but oil changes. Meanwhile, both of my friends (08 328? and 07 528?) have already had issues. Friends 3 series needs a 3rd engine rebuild because the valves are ticking/tapping (again). His old 97 had the same issue. The kid who has the 5-series, had a 330 like 4 years ago and had over heating issues at 15k. Maybe that’s just a small sample size/they are unlucky, but IMO, if you buy a BMW…get ready to spend money on fixing it.
I put the A8 second because it’s look good and I actually drove one and it was definitely a baller car. I did not test a 7-series when I shopping because I couldn’t be bothered buying a BMW. To me, it’s like buying a Mac. Waste of money and all your buying is the name. You can get the same elsewhere for 15k less (sticker price). Now the GS, if you go through the features they offer now, that car is DEFINITELY worth 90k.
I admit it, I’m as much a Japanese fan boy as I am an Intel fan boy. They seem to be far more reliable in general, although I will admit that V8 version of my car in the early years of production had oil consumption issues.
do NOT I repeat do NOT get an 03+ 7 series, they are JUNNKKKKK. Pimp as FUCK looking, but JUNKK. This is coming straight from a certified Keeler BMW mechanic and EVERY employee at Autobahn. I was obsessed with them myself and wanted one so bad, but took the advice of not getting one. They have no many motor issues its rediculous. E90/E92 is the way to go, again, from what I’ve been told they are the most reliable by FAR and have VERY little “common” problems.
Illya is right about the Lexus LS. All the motors in all the different series are availible everywhere, parts are mixed through 10-15 different models of car so they are readily availible. If you get an older LS with a 1uz they are cake to work on and the motor itself will last you 400K mi
Yep. This applies to most Japanese cars. They seem to use the ‘parts bin’ a lot more. My car has parts on the G, the Maxima, the Altima, etc. (engine wise - VQ35DE). People were even using parts from the Pathfinder on their Maxima’s when I was on that forum.
I personally wouldn’t buy any BMW other than an M3 or M5 for the simple fact that you can get the same elsewhere (the 5-series and 7-series both have ‘worthy’ [if you will] competitors). However, after owning my M, I am never going down from this level of car again. A G sedan, Maxima, 3-series/5-series are just too small for me now. M56 or LS is definitely in my future.
That’s fine. Doesn’t offend me one bit lol. I think Infiniti/Nissan’s are great cars as they are very reliable in my 3 experiences (97 Maxima, 99 Maxima, and 2007 M). I’m just sayin that I think BMW’s are the Macs of the auto world.
