Installed the y pipe and exhaust from johns car today. Good bit of work, but I’m a broke ass college kid so I can’t shell out for new stuff right now. Sounds good, it’s nice now I don’t get a headache after driving the car for 20 minutes. Scored a diablo pedator NIB for 100 bucks on LS1tech that should be here tomorrow. So maybe I’ll have some time to play with the car this weekend.

Do not put that diablo on the car, will ruin everything. Car is tuned already. You just bought an expensive code reader.

gonna have the car flashed back to stock. It’s one of the older predators that was never used, so I can still delete the 02s and do everything the mail order tune did. Either way I got it for a very very good price, I couldn’t even have bought a decent parts store code scanner for what I paid for the pedator

Lol nope I have straight pipes and stacks on my diesel and I’m building a 500 plus horse power camaro too. So loud vehicles really don’t bother me, but I only need some many obnoxious vehicles. Either way I wasn’t too partial to the duals scraping on everything, roads in plattsburgh aren’t that great.

that diablo cant tune for the converter,headers and what not they are garbage ,way to waste some money .if anything send it to brian herter at pcmforless .if ya flash it with that car kiss any progress made with it goodbie

Well right now I have a car that is starting to have issues with a 1 to 2 upshift. Which based on what my friends that build 4L60s have told me means I bought a car with a wasted trans. The fact that the car was 1.5 quart low when I got it, leads me to believe that the transmission is probably on its way out anyway. So for now I have a line on a stock 4L60 w/ converter that I can trade some gen1 sbc parts for and a very limited budget and even more limited time. So if I have to choose between a very lightly modified car that I can atleast drive I will take that over a car that I have to worry about leaving me stranded.

have ya dropped the pan on it yet ? .a good tune is everything on these cars and trans .i have way more stall ,nitrous and more mods on my trans and it held up till a275 hit went across it .give it a good service and syn fluid and it will live ,besides the 4l60,s dont blow 1-2 they much the 3-4 clutch pacs and blow planetarys out

I did drop the pan, there was a little bit of clutch material. Nothing out of the ordinary really, magnet was a little dirty. Changed the filter and filled the transmission with refilled with regular fluid. I need to get the front end squared away before I do any more playing around at high speed. That dead center is down right scary at freeway speed, let alone faster. Come friday I’ll have enough for a rack, unless I sell off some more old 3rd gen parts.

Can’t debate internal automatic trans stuff with you John, because I just don’t know enough to really say so. However a friend of mine went to the valley and did the GM ASEP program and has rebuilt several. He said that the same parts are involved in the 2nd and 4th gear shift. So if there is a problem with both then the trans could be due for a rebuild. Either way it’s hard to say since I’ve only got about 40 miles on it with the SES issue fixed and I’m not comfortable pushing the car the way the front end is.

then it aint goin .if it had a buch of filings in it id say yeah but if it dont, run it remeber the car is electronic and has sort of a memory shift and diff shift cells on the pcm and depending where the foot is depends on what and where it shifts

On a side note did those duals end up fitting your car john? I had to modify the y pipe I got from you.

there on and sound great ,although im changin em around and ordered a x-pipe kit so it smoothes it out a little and pulls better down low

Good I’m glad I would have felt like an @$$ if they didn’t work for you. I’ll have to play with the car more, but either way for what I paid for the predator its worth it to have the ability to read the codes and other information once I move in 2 months and don’t have access to a shop.

Well I wouldn’t call a car that doesn’t shift into high gear at wide open throttle and is starting to stutter step the 2nd gear shift alright.

it kills me how i have never had an issue once with the trans, i would talk to a tuner< and not a predator tune. You put that tune on and youll see the trans bouce off the limiter constantly (stall wall) <- haha richie. But seriously i think your getting ahead of yourself with the whole busted trans thing, make sure the car is running right and tuned properly before you go jumping to conclusions
