…right.

umm, i tried the comp fitting idea today while laying in a foot of snow and all wet, i got the part that broke fixed i redid it at the caliper then comp fit it to the other part bu while in the process another part at the end of the line broke so i bent it to fit cut all the rusty line off and comp fittied that and i thought i was golden i went to hit the peddal but it slowly went down i was like wtf!!, so i seen it was leaking from the one comp fitting so i recut the tubing because i left slack just incase and used a new fitting and it still leaked, im realy mad i missed school today and will miss tommorow too because i have no way to get there, im at the point now of redoing the comp fitting and clamping rubber hose over the entire section of brake line as it only leaked a little lol any other suggestions before speedped hurts himself due to no brakes

did you try teflon?

why not just take it to a shop?

no$ no brakes to get to shop, usually my cousin fixes this stuff for me at his shop but he recently had a new babay so hes busy

if ya need a cheap mechanic let me know, hes certified pm me

why dont you just replace the whole line? that way you dont have to worry about splicing anything together, just get your tubing bender and start at the beginning and have at it. brake line is no that expensive, and you’ll be better off this way. also, dont know if its been said or not, but the piece of rubber hose to use as a splice idea that you mentioned…not the best idea IMO.

^^^ You can by a whole role of brake line for about $15 at just about any parts store. Get the fittings, and replace the whole line!

Boo to Teflon. Yay to double flaring everything related to brakes.

This has disaster written all over it…

Rubber hose??? Please don’t, or at least tell us which roads you drive on so we can avoid them.

Teflon tape on the threads doesn’t do anything. The flare is what seals the line, not the threads.

Unless its a double flair it’s illegal and unsafe.

If the line was rusted which is why it broke in the first place, you’ll never be able to cut it out and flare a new section well since odds are that’s rusted too and never seal well.

Brake line is dirt cheap. Just start at the closest junction box and work your way back with new line.

Thank you… I told you junkie

you didnt tell me anything…you laughed.

you need to do the repair right or dont even bother doing it, there is no quick fix here. If its done correctly you dont need teflon tape.

the line that was originally bbroke i took out and redid it from the caliper up and it sealed and id holding fine, the one thats giving me problems is the one that broke in the process of fixing the other one which is leaky,i just need to get it where it has brakes so i can bring it to my cousins work, i also have to get to the dmv asap

Compression fittings are bad news. Learning how to double flare with a scrap piece of $2 brake line could save your life. Do it right or don’t do it at all.

ok its fixed, my attempts failed, my cousin let me bring it to his shop and he helped me fix it the right way there, we replaced the line that was broke and another that broke in the process, we ran those 2 lines all new from front to back, theres one more line on the car that was rusted kinda bad but dosnt leak as this moment and will be a royal pain to do and he didnt have time to do it today but im happy now i have brakes yay

truth

cut the line and the hell with it, afterwards go speeding around buffalo (preferably down by the waterfront)

ooo cut the line good idea, now where do you live so i can take your advice?

for the record theres alot of techs who use teflon tape so junkie isnt wrong second compression fittings are not a good idea

Do not use rubber line it is not going to work. Did you double flare it? And do you have the correct fittings? It shouldnt leak if it is tight enough,
