As an update, Howe and Howe (the creators of ripsaw) have their show premiering tonight at 10 on discovery

Im waiting for it to start watching dirtyjobs right now. I love discovery howe and howe looks like its going to be really good.:shoot:

i wonder how much the US millitary is making them leave out of that show…

thats awesome!
i would drop a load if that busted down my down…or came through my wall!

I watched the show and couldn’t help think how shitty that design is…

you can’t just make a comment like that without elaborating.

First thing I thought is 2 or 3 people could probably push the thing over, and why not on the side with the one door, so the person inside isn’t just fucked out of a ride, he’s trapped inside until a rescue team is sent to push it right side up. Similarly it’s track is norrow enough so you can probably flip the thing on it’s side relatively easily with a few bad moves, likely to happen because you can’t see shit, and if it’s the side with the door, see above…

What’s the point?

to me, it looked like the door was on the top

How can you ever make a statement like that without knowing where the CG is. It LOOKS top heavy, but i bet the CG is very low…

In the one they made for the show it was one door on the left side. So what if it is on top? flip it upside down the operator is still fucked.

Another thing is I bet the 50 cal round would have probably penetrated if hit perpendicularly. They hit every shell on an angle, increasing their chances that the bullets won;t penetrate. And whoever has 50cal guns they many rounds and also rpg’s probably, which I bet would put a hole in that thing.

I’m pretty sure you don’t know what you’re talking about.

unless it is VERY top heavy, it’s not going to be an easy task to get it to stand up on the roof.

stop talking out of your ass unless you can prove it.

It has to be a lot heavier. No I don’t know where the cg is, but I did watch the construction and you can see them moving it around and such and kind of get a feel that it’s not super heavy, especially on the bottom. Maybe it would be damn near impossible to flip over for even 4 people but I don’t think so.

Congrats on owning the dumbest statement I’ve heard this week.

Not trying to shit on anything/anyone I’m just pointing out what I think are flaws…

Yeah I don’t know what happened there jay. I guess I the whole sentence.

I just think they should have tried harder with the bullets, peoples lives at stake and all.

This vid says it’s 2700 lbs.

It also says it fits inside an elevator.
Can elevators handle 2700lb?

Also, What is the point of an armored transport vehicle to transport one person with minimal storage space? I can see the operators getting killed while trying to get out and fight.

Edit: How many law enforcement agencies on the planet would send one person into a “hot” situation in ANY armored vehicle?
Cool, yes. Useful and or safe… hell no. But, it would be fun to get around the mall in.

I don’t think the SWAT team usually deals with criminals that own 50 cals or rpgs. lol The way the show made it sound was this was more for law enforcement use here than military. I think the tank was designed the way it was to utilize angles to reduce impacts from bullets by redirecting the force away from itself.

I can see many practical uses for this. First off, why not send a guy into a hot spot with a bullet proof tank. You start rampaging around with that thing and people are gonna go running out. lol At 2700 lbs being a hunk of steel, your definitly not gonna tip this thing as was said. The only reason you can get cars to almost flip is threw utilizing its own weight through the suspension to bouch. With no suspension, you gotta basically dead lift this thing.

Think about it, barge in with this thing equiped with some gas grenades and your set. No ones shooting a rpg at you unless they have a death wish themselves. They even taped a frag grenade to the side and it was survivalable.

I have this episode DVR’d but haven’t watched it yet. As a personal armored vehicle I think it’ll create it’s own niche with LEOs. Hell, just the aspect of having the damn things might deter hole-ups. “Come out, or I’m coming through the fucking wall.” :ohnoes:

+1 on you not knowing what you’re talking about.

In reality… i’d like to see you focus on pushing this thing over with 2 huge tracks that would seriously injure you as it began lifting from the ground surface. The side you would be pushing on…would have freed up track, under no load…eating at you like a cheese grater.

Not to mention, the only way you would get a chance to push it over, would be if it was “dead in the water”. It can pivot on a dime. It would be the equivilant of trying to push over a sleeping bull.
