Buffalo Attacks Loud Car Stereo Systems

My exgf’s cousin recently got a ticket listening to the radio too loud in his station wagon with stock speakers.

Is that, anything like this?

haha, whoops… someone can delete this… i didn’t think about checking another forum… I don’t really think it is “Technical Talk”

thats a very vague description for a law in my opinion. just leaves too much room for disagreement. shouldnt it be a db thing?

the problem is everyone is too cheap to do it the right way. it doesn’t HAVE to rattle like that and sound like shit…

my system can get VERY loud, but i barely listen to it loud enough to hear the thump in the trunk

if i got pulled over, i would definately fight it, in court i’d ask what the db reading was at the scene. if they had no proof…

"The law states a ticket can be issued anytime excessive or unreasonable noise disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensibilities. "

how can you fight that?

but what is “normal sensibilities”?? that is the question

there is a shirt that we sell at my work and its says “if my music is to loud then you are to old.”

exactly. if there is no finite definition of unreasonable, it is arbitrary and there is no solid law to uphold in court. Also, if they dont take a db reading, this is what court would go like

“The music was too loud”
“too loud according to what law”
“uhh, the law that says music can’t be too loud”
“ok, how loud was it?”
“uhh, well i didn’t take a db reading, so I don’t really know”

i just bought a kicker L7 and a 2000 watt amp for my truck. i did it right and theres nothing i can do about it. its loud, but i dont blast it at night, or in communities. i keep it for when im driving on backroads and for my own use. its a dick move to disturb eveybody with it just to show off and say i have it.

See, I think they put the “normal sensibilities” part in there to keep the old farts, who think anything louder than a whisper is too loud, from being able to call the cops constantly.

PS… I put the original thread in the audio forum because the proposed law wants to make the installation of the stuff illegal.
