very cool, i look forward to seeing how it comes out
Not much progress over the winter, but I have motor mounts here, and a rack on the way, look for major progress starting as soon as the weather warms a little.
2 months till the first event - you had better get your ass in gear!!!
BTW - if you want any help, let me know
where did you order your shocks from?
nevermind, found it on the other forum. in case anyone else cares he got them from summit racing
this is great!
Lots of progress over the last week or so, I got a steering rack from a Triumph Spitfire, Chevette master cylinder, and calipers are on the way. I also fabbed the motor mounts, this I was dreading but it was actually really easy. They are just tacked for now until I’m SURE everything is straight and level. I may have overbuilt them a little, and the rubber part is from a circle track website (speedway motors) so they are REALLY overkill for a 1298cc engine. But they are nice and stiff, not as stiff as poly mounts though. Also I got to work on the front half of the wiring harness. This is going to take FOREVER. Next I have to cut 6" or so out of the Spitfire rack and make brackets for that.
i dont see those as being overbuilt, thats just right, overbuilt would be milled mounts with bracing etc
Lookin good, glad to see you’ve gotten a chance to work on it again.
 Should have powdercoated the frame though.

Why would I do that? I painted it with POR15, which is MUCH better than any powdercoat.

this project is about function and cost not fashion

So your saying you wouldnt take the time to make it look good in the process?
Not when it’d quadruple the cost of a step. It’d probably be a couple hundred bucks AT LEAST to get a good powdercoat on the chassis. POR15 was probably $50 or less.
