Bus monitor bullied

The site gets 4% if you reach your goal, which this did by far.

I also subscribe to this theory. It certainly is a matter of preference but I’ve never heard an effective counter-point to the notion of having one parent at home, mom or dad.

For the guys that suggest they ‘need’ to have both parents working… i can tell you that you will certainly not get out of that position by working more. take a step back, cut out some shit, take a real good hard look at your life and then change it so that one of you pulls more than what the two of you are making now or reduce current overhead by significant amounts. think long term… go back to school, retrain, change your attitude or stop being whatever it is that limits you. If you’re serious i’m sure there are a few dudes on here that would be willing to meet with you, take a look at your life for 10 minutes then cut into you with some real hard shit advice.

but then again, if you’re kids are healthy and well-adjusted and you’re largely happy with your situation then maybe working a bit too hard is a reasonable sacrifice.

also, jesus was gay

or get rid of your mistakes beautiful children.

I believe raising a child from birth to 18 is now upwards $250k.

One of my good friends had a stay at home mom. His dad worked so many hours at GM he pretty much never saw his kid grow up. Now my buddy is doing the same to his kid. Yeah, that sounds like a great way to live.

Post an income you think would make you middle class and live able with one person working…

I want to compare that to income stats

This isn’t 40 years ago…and even if you do pull it off thinking long term retirement savings, maxing 401k, something happening to single earner?

Here is some more on retirement/savings lol

http://www.statisticbrain.com/american-family-financial-statistics/

One income house holds just isn’t feasible for the majority now a days.

Sad but true. Fixed expenses are through the roof thanks to inflation (hidden funding of wars and other government spending bloat). As the wealth disparity grows there is less influence “we the people” have over OUR government. We are the majority in quantity but not in monetary terms, our voices don’t matter to the politicians of today.

“If you wish to conquer a people, addict their hearts to the love of benefits and their minds to vain knowledge, then they will fight to maintain their slavery against any who might set them free. Just teach the people to call good “evil” and evil “good”. The weakened and deceived people of a once strong republic will rush to grant new power to men … in exchange for peace and security. With the abandonment of responsibility, liberty, and freedom, rights are soon traded for the provisos, or conditions, and the “provisions of the state”.”

“Caesar Augustus was not alone in his lust for power and control. His rise to authority over men was relatively easy. All he had to do was to appeal to the tyranny in the hearts of every man. By promising them an entitlement to the power and profits of his rule, his own jurisdiction was insured. Men feared standing for what was right, they coveted their neighbor’s goods and they loved themselves more than they loved their neighbor or their rights. Freedom soon perishes in a nation of tyrants.”

This all may seem OT to some but the reality is this inflation driven lack of a stay at home parent (whether male or female) erodes the moral fabric of society. This is why kids cry out for attention and act like hateful morons. As we all fight over the table scraps left for us and try to stay above a rising water line we begin to hate each other and life becomes a pressure cooker. This is most heavily noted in the middle class because we aren’t wealthy. We have the most to lose because of the effort we expend trying to “get ahead” and saving for our “retirement”. Being in the middle we have 2 groups to despise…the poor and the rich. Class warfare is most intense in our segment but we don’t resort to petty crime as often as the poor because we feel we have something to lose, they do not. The rich resort to white collar crime often knowing they can just buy their way out of the consequences, they rarely are properly vilified for their predatory actions. We need to stop segregating ourselves and join forces against the government abusing our labor and currency. Get the cost of living down and keep a parent home to help raise the next generation.

I partially blame xbox live/psn. Like call of duty or whatever. Ever listen to those 10 year olds on there? And they’re learning it from the 18-40 year olds who don’t sensor themselves in their shit talking. Which really goes back to parents letting kids play too many video games with no supervision. Raise your kids or don’t have any.

People are way too materialistic in this country to have one parent working. It is really sad. I know people who make over $100,000 but their wife still works.

Yup, it’s not my job or responsibility to censor myself on COD. I cannot believe the age and mouth these kids have on there. What kind of parent buys a 12 year old that game??? The Xbox is NOT a babysitter!

I don’t care how much I make. If I get married, that girl is going to work too.

I disagree, This is our scenario and it is worth it alone for my wife to work just for the benifits and retirement alone that my company does not provide/as well as hers and she gets the summers off too

I’d rather my spouse and myself work more when we’re younger and my kids are in school so we can all live a very comfortable life and provide everything our kids need. That way, when the really important stuff comes along and they need us more, aka weddings and grand children, I can take things slow. My parents struggled when I was growing up and my mother didn’t work. While I appreciate what they did, I appreciate seeing them more now as I’m older than I did when I was a kid.

nah. you know that it depends on where you live, how many kids you have etc. the number would be higher for a Canadian living in Ontario than someone living in Buffalo but even higher for someone living in Manhattan so it’s all relative.

To give you an example of some decisions that can be made; until last week we went without a landline, nothing more than basic cable, no internet memberships or other subscriptions (xbox, gym, etc.), keep car payments to a minimum, only pay cash for vacations and keep them reasonable, never carry a credit card balance at all, and most of all, got approved for a mortgage and only used HALF of what the bank approved us for to keep payments low. Oh… and havent spend a dollar on drugs, cigarettes or alcohol in my entire adult life.

Annual income is irrelevant. It’s simply living within your means and doing without as many discretionary items as possible.

If my wife had of kept working and we had of decided not to have children i could be driving around in a $150k Porsche 911 Turbo with a $25k watch and blah blah blah… but I’d rather have kids and a wife that stays home and scale back on the house, cars, etc.

On the professional side, separate time from income. if your income is based solely on the amount that you work (in units of time) then you’ll always be in trouble. Simply get qualified to do the kind of work that companies have to pay more money for and then get awesome at it. Put upward pressure on role and compensation and be willing to take a risk and leave to go somewhere else if it makes sense. Or in other words, don’t be a fag.

And above all else… smack your kids.

And the guy took it to the extremes. 53 Hrs a week at GM is $100K a yr. “The guy did it and never seen his kid grow up so” we’ll assume he did it for 15yrs. Do you realize how much money he must’ve blown!!! 100K a yr for a Married three is a 27-29% tax bracket so he’s still taking home $70+K a yr for 15yrs or 1 MILLION DOLLARS + TAKE HOME!!! I know he probably did this 10+ yrs ago and was making less but things were less then as well and inflation wasn’t as bad.
He didnt see his kid because he didnt want to see his kid plain and simple. This isnt a jab at you Jay just at the GM people that think they have to work every min they can for their whole carrer.

perfect example of locking income into time spent. only way to make more $ is to invest more time.

I used to live next to a Toy R Us in St. Catharines and at 5am every morning a dozen GM workers would park in the lot and pile into a 10 seater van and make the ~2.5 hour commute through Toronto traffic to the GM plant in Oshawa and then back at night…

Who the hell thinks that is a good idea? you lose 4+ hours a day in a van that you don’t get paid for… You have to discount your compensation per hour by 1/3 right off the bat… good luck taking part in the development of your family while you’re at it.

wait what did this thread start out about again?

Stay tuned for the tax evasion case in 2 years…she’lll probably foolishly donate it without proper documentation and be left with a $100k+ tax bill…just the 1% getting what she deserves

I think a family of 3 can live extremely comfortable on a $40k a yr salary. That is a 12.90 an hr job working 53 hrs a week.
Take home would be 561.5385 a wk or $2433 a mo
800 a mo for a decent 2 bdrm including utilities
300 car payment should get ya something pretty nice I hope ya can at least have a 2nd cheaper car paid for.
400 mo food If you spend more than that stop eating like you’re rich and start clipping coupons. This is about what I spend
50 mo cable. Ill even let ya have that
250 mo gas any more, get rid of the Tahoe
200 mo Health Ins any more than that need to start looking into a better job
100 misc (laundry,gifts,etc)
75 mo 2 cell phones. You don’t need smart phone when trying to get by

2175
Leaves you $250+ a mo for other stuff( co pays, clothes, oil changes, etc) Ya want to be even more comfortable, get rid of that $300 a mo car payment and go spend $1500 on a nice reliable car( 99 Century, 97 civic, etc) Might have rust and a dent or two but will last you for yrs with very little work.
Now you’re up to $550 a mo. You want to make a little more pick up a 2nd job. Maybe its only 12 hrs a week delivering pizzas but it will Net you an extra $150 a week. Don’t tell me that it will kill your car either. If you drive normally it won’t hurt it and you will still get decent tips if you’re polite and smile.
Now you’re up to 1200 a month clear after paying all your bills. You’re only wooking 65 hrs a week which is more then you’d probably like buy still very manigable and plenty of time to see your family.
Now your saving 14k+ a yr + any interest which is probably not much but could add alittle.
Maybe reward yourself and go buy a $7500 2008ish car from someone like Justin who has the best service after the sale I’ve ever seen. Car will come with a 3 yr warranty too
While you’re at it go spend $1k on some new clothes and another $500 on a little mini vaction for you and the misses.

You still have $5K left

After yr 2 you should have $20K dollars now. You spend $5K on a nice second car for the wife. Another $1k on clothes, $2K on a nice little family vacation and another little one for the wife. We’ll even say an extra $1k on something that came up. Remember the cars have warranties for the bigger stuff. Also you sold your other two cars so more profit. $11K left

Yr 3 you have $25K now 2 nicer cars, everythings paid. I’ll give ya $2K in unexpected bills which not sure what they could be that high for but stuff does happen You have 22K left.
Yr 4 up too 37K. I’ll give ya another $2K for additional expenses. $35K left

Yr 5 You have $50K now!!! Again I’ll give ya 2k for expenses and since your warranty is up I would sell your car for $3000 and take another $7K and go buy a nice $10K car off Justin again with a nice warranty and paid for cash. Another family trip. Lets say Disney World for a week and couple small weekend getaways with the wife to keep it fresh $3K. You have. $38K left
Yr 6 You now have $53K cash Lets get a house!!! Well wait we have $53 Grand saved we can almost pay cash for one. Well lets not cut it too close lets put $40K down on a nice newly remodeled $80K house. We take out a 15yr loan, our payment is $316 a mo, taxes 200 a mo. , water/sewer $50mo, utilities 300 a mo( anymore and turn the lights off or keep the heat at 68 and if still, you shoul’ve bought a better insulated house!)
Gee we have our own house and our bills only went up 75 a mo!!!Still clearing $14K a yr and if we have to put more then $30K in the house over the next 15 yrs we’re pretty silly. So two of the next 15 yrs of $14K savings will be used for the house. I’ll give ya an extra $56k for misc over the next 15 yrs. 9 yrs left spend another $42 on cars or 2,500 a yr plus you can sell the 2 you have and get something. Take a mega vacation with the $5K.
6 yrs left or $90K without a penny from interest. Hey, guess what, The house is paid for!!! Now your saving $25K a yr on a $48 K a yr job. I would cut back the 2nd job or $8K a yr so you’re clearing $17K a yr !!! Wifey still isnt working

Summary. Family of 3 making can live decently on a $40K a yr job. Had Dad Work an extra 12 hrs a week and 6 yrs later have 2 nice cars paid for. A nice home thats half paid for and will be totally paid for in 15yrs going on vacation(s) every year. This was without Dad getting a raise in 6 yrs either but I’ll cough that up match it with inflation.
No one killed themselves, Mom and Child are home safe and sound waiting to see Daddy When He gets home from work in there nice little home. You could not work the extra 12 hrs and it would just take lomger and you would have to be more aggressive. 2nd or third kid would slow it down as well but it is possible and man I just cant believe I typed all this LOL

She wont pay taxes on this… these are all gifts… so gifting it away… wont result in a tax bill, especially if its to charities or family… 5 million dollar excemption!!! Pls, she’ll file a 709 and it’ll be fine.

And derek… ehhh 40k for a family of 3? i dunno, thats a stretch. what kind of house are you renting for 800 a month? what kind of life are you providing in todays world for a family of 3 on 250 a month disposable income?

60k… I’ll give you that.

40k, hell, most people in wny do it for less, but i wouldnt strive for “that” lifestyle.
