the 205/50 is smaller then stock which is 195/65 for me
my final drive is 3.94 and I don’t want to go lower as my 4th gear is a 1.15 and with 235/60’s I should be in the 117/118mph range (7200rpm) and want to keep it at least there as I should be trapping close to 120mph and don’t want to shift into 5th
not a lot of miles at all…plus I have street tires already (just to cruise around it, cheap-years of some sort)
I got a set of kosei k-1’s that need some attention (they ahve 22X8 slicks, but those are too small, anybody need em or wants to trade for 24.5X8?)
my tranny is a bit short, first gear is nice 2.3 then 1.80/1.45/1.5 which kinda sucks, but it’s got a diff. in it so I couldn’t pass it up, I’ll just run taller tires, I have room in the fender
I dont know anything about tranny numbers (ratios)
If i where you and planning on not running these tires on the street i would go with a full slick.
if your want a street tire that it 26" i would go with the M&H bias ply over the BFG or MT radial
the bfg’s look cooler… they are “fat” they will look wider than what they are measured. (Friend of mine had 315 sumosuckies and then went to 315 bfgs, and they looked like 335’s from the back. they looked wider than my buddies 325 et street radials).
but of course, m/t, hands down, is gonna stick a lot more. Since you already have street tires, go with the et street radials.
I have tried the radials, and et drags on my car. I liked the et drags A LOT more. I’m going to try the et street bias plies next, I hear a lot of good things about them.
A bias ply is a slick though, I can’t really run that on the street? I do live in the city of pgh (Sq. Hill) 2 blocks from the 5.0 :ugh2:
I have garbage good-years (205/70’s), that are enough to take on long trips etc etc, these things spin so hard in the lower gears it sux, cause I can literally sit still @ like 60-80mph no problem, hence why I am interested in these ET STREETS (maybe I should just say fark it and get the slicks, the issue is I already got 22X8 slicks - came with my kosei k-1 15X7 rims, so I am stuck with them for now, unless someone local wants to trade for 24.5X8 which I will want to buy eventually anyway)
I don’t drive this car to work, only on weekends and to the track and just to hang around town. Yes, I’ll take it on a few trips DC,NY,NJ or whatever hence why I got these 205/70’s.
Now, a 26 inch wheel will fit with ease on my FWD car. The reason I know is that my 205/70 are 26 inch tires already and I just dynoed @ Hybrid 388whp, so I am sure I have enough power for drag radials and slicks as I still have more octane and more boost to add to this thing.
For reference my current tire and my 235/60 aspirations…
Thanks for the discussion guys…seems like I am on the right path
