car died in the middle of the road today

Hi, I was driving today and as i was coming to a stop, my car just stalled and just shut off. So i was standing in the middle of the road, i went to check all my fuse, and the fuse for the fuel pump was burned. So i just switched a fuse on it, and then try starting teh car again, it started, then shut right off again. So i put another fuse on it, then it start and i could drive it home. I m wondering does this mean that my fuel pump is done? how hard is it to put a new one in? how much? thanks for all your help.

Have you done any recent wiiring work?
Has the pump been replaced before?

It sounds like there is a short somewhere. Look at the wires leading to the pump and see if there are any signs of wear.

The pump itself is fine, or at least it does not cause your fuse to blow if it’s dead.
