I have a question can you have a car with no plates sit in your drive way? I live in LeRoy,NY I heard a bunch of things from differnt people i was just wondering cause i just picked up a car but I cant put it on the road right now thanks for the help.

Different towns have different rules on it. I know in Hamburg they only bother you when a neighbor complains. One old bastard reported 40 cars in a day, but the inspector was nice and told me to cover it or put a for sale sign on it. I now keep one plate every time I turn in a set, and put it on the car, no issues ever.
i dont think a neighbor will know the plate on the car dosnt belong to the car.

my dad just went through this crap last year… if its outside it has to have a plate on it, even if its covered. obviously, as stated by others if you don’t have any douchebag neighbors then you probably wont ever get bothered either way
i think there is something about if its covered before a complaint they cant remove the cover to check for a plate?
not in west seneca…my dad’s car was covered for months before he got the notice
in Leroy I bet they count it as extra sq/ft-age on your house and you have to pay more taxes lol…
Amherst has an exception in the reg if you put a for sale sign on it. Only stored the fiero outside one winter and my neighbors don’t suck, so I never had to try the for sale trick.
you have up to 30 days or until a complaint, the main factor is, if its out of sight from the general public its ok. ( i assume that means the road and asshole neighbors) other than that you should be fine i think? thats what i was told from a state trooper last winter when i had my car off the road.
just back it in, then it looks like a car from out of town. Make sure you shovel around it so it doesn’t looke like an abandoned car.
depends on the town. here in pendleton you can have 1 unregistered vehicle on your property…but they dont enforce it much only when a neighbor complains will they do something.

I live in LeRoy as well. I wouldn’t worry about it…just throw a car cover on it.
