Hey I can’t help the way I feel. I can’t take pride in stuff or really get interested in stuff that you can just buy. I wasn’t trying to start drama. I guess that’s why I sold both my lotus. They were cool, but I couldn’t take pride in them.
Maybe you feel differently if you had a Lotus jacket? Lotus Hat? and hung out with your Lotus friends talking about them?
Is your whole objective in life to just stir the pot? It is past the point where it is even funny now. Eventually you just start to come off as an asshole.
I imagine Newman sitting somewhere going “ha, these guys are so mad right now!”
I have a Corvette
You can remove Lotus on everything I said above and replace with Corvette.
I enjoy my car but Corvette, Porsche, Lotus, and whatever else are some of the worst groups of car owners to deal with
But are they really? I mean, I’ve gone to the last 3 cars and coffee meets. There were a lot of decent people that have regular lives, and just like getting their cars out when they can. I did not encounter any assholes or pretentious people. But even if I did, that just makes them human. Every group has an asshole, or a few, to contend with. I would call this group and these meetings pretty good overall, especially compared to a lot of meets I’ve been to in recent years…
I didn’t say anything was wrong with the meet…I had a good time and will keep going but it’s pretty much all the standard stereotypes for all the kinds of vehicles there.
There are probably more ppl that don’t go to the meets that are assholes, than those that actually go.
I also didn’t say anyone was an asshole.
Who is mad?
Jesus Christ.
Since we are OT at this point I was super happy with the canal side Clutch Artists/Autorama show yesterday. Super rad stuff going on there.
As far as the current topic(still not on topic lol) I understand how these guys can be amped on their cars and enjoy the social aspects of meeting/cruising.
But on a personal level agree with @newman. It really is just a matter of what makes you go “man that is siqqqqq” we all like different things. for instance you can tub any car and put a 30" slick on it and im into it. Cause I like beer and America.
Anyhow last time I went to this it was pretty cool. Only lame dude was some guy asked about MPG and why I needed so much HP. He had to have been trolling.

Asshole
Owners aside, find a better event in Buffalo to look up close at cars of these caliber. Seeing exotics of decades past really puts into perspective how far cars have come. If you think the owners fit into a stereotype you don’t like, don’t talk to anyone then.
Jesus Christ doesn’t strike me as the angry type.
Well it’s all super subjective. I agree with LZ in that there is a stereotype associated with those types of cars, but I wouldn’t call them the worst, I’d just call them dorks. They’re often times just huge fucking dorks. I don’t even mean that in a really negative way, it’s just a good (subjective) term to use here for someone who has a personality trait or interest that makes them just super boring to me. That’s not to say it makes them bad people, it just makes them dorks.
Shit, I’m sure lots of people think building cars or motorcycles makes me a dork, and that’s totally OK with me, I probably am.
Jesus Christ would not encourage pride (or hubris) either. I try not to be proud but sometimes I am.
I’m really not trying to troll with this statement, but this really just doesn’t interest me. I can’t even quantify my thought right now, because I like stuff that people build, but I don’t like stuff that people buy, but SOMEONE designed and built these things. I think it comes down to me just being into stuff that people build which represent them in some way. I know this isn’t everyone’s reason to own a car, but it must be mine. Maybe I’m trying to extend my personality with the car just as bad as the Ferrari guy. Shit. Haha.
“Dork: a dull, slow-witted, or socially inept person.”
Built vs Bought…Meh. I’ve never really cared about the whole argument. As long as you enjoy your car and are cool to other people who enjoy cars, you’re alright with me. I could care less if you are driving a Ferrari, a modded Mustang, or a Geo Metro.
For me, I certainly have more interest in unique cars. I probably spend more time checking out unique and oddball cars more often than anything mainstream (Stock or modded). Judging by the pics, there’s a lot of cool cars there that I would like to have a closer look at.
Stock Cavalier- not hot.
The most amazing one-off Cavalier Turbo as seen on NYSpeed- hott.
Stock e30 M3- hott.
LS Engine swapped heavily modded e30 m3- kind of a bummer.
Heavily modded rainbow colored e30 with hacked up mtech bumper gasp - hott.
I’m all over the place on the topic. I just like cars. Can’t we all just get along?
Everyone is getting along
