My next project car im leaning towards a cefiro…im having a hard time picking a good power plant, id really like to try the 2jz? Any ideas?
Have you done any research on the topic yet??
Well…you’ll need to go single turbo more than likely because of the brake and clutch master cylinders being on the same side as the turbo.
You’ll also want to do that because the steering rack is on that side too. Keeping the stock twins would be more hassle than its worth.
Also, you’re gonna have to do something about the exhaust, because the exhaust tunnel on the cefiro is on the left side, and 2jz is on the right, so basically you’ll have to run 4x4 ride height unless you make your own exhaust tunnel and dont want it to scrape.
Will have to make motor and tranny mounts as well.
Custom driveshaft.
Have to run shitty electric rad fans.
Have to make hoses for the water neck/rad.
Fuel Lines.
Basically, by the time it’s all said and done you could have rebuilt some sort of RB motor for the same cash. I mean I’m all for unique…but only when it makes sense.
The kind of power drifting requires you dont need to swap a 2jz to make it…400whp is more than enough…
Why not “show us how it’s done” with the Charger since your such an advocate of “uniqueness”. A 2jz cefiro is far from unique anyway, it’s just following the “strict mould” to build a drift car right?
Also…if you want a good drift car…rb/2jz’s s are stupid anyway, sr or 13/20b gives you better weight distribution and you can make enough power with them anyway.
I’m not really sure why you’re asking on here though, if you are considering putting a 2jz in a cefiro obviously you should know enough to make up your own mind about it…and i thought this site was stupid and you werent coming back?
Is this the same guy as before?
Why not put an SR into the cefiro?
I work at a performance shop that can pretty much build or make anything, we have a nice metal fab shop. I was thinking of doing a rb25. Im not a s13 or s14 type of person, im not a big fan of inline 4’s. Sure i could build what everyone else has, but i wanna try building up a cefiro, i like bigger cars. Thanks for all the tips, i’ll keep them in mind. As for my charger, i still plan to finish it…Its kinda sad how u guys have taken this? last year is over…i learned what my car needs, and plan to change the complete suspension setup, heck i’ll post a pic of the setup.
Im not a big fan of the SR20…i like the sound of a high reving rb25, rb26 or 2jz.
Maybe you need to quit acting so condescending when your talking about everything you do. You need to realize you cant come onto a nissan forum acting like your better than everyone else because you drive a charger…no one gives a shit…sorry to break it to you…
Think about it this way, wtf do you think would happen if i went on a dodge drag racing forum and started preaching about building up a skyline drag car, but then i went to a drag racing event and ran like 14’s…no one would give a shit they would think im an idiot…maybe something to consider.
And im not trying to start shit, maybe just make you realize why you were so poorly recieved the first time…
just for some info on the charger…here is a pic of the exact setup, it gets rid of the old steering box, converts it to rack and pinion, gets rid of torsion bars…This whole setup will allow the car to sit lower, and have more tuning capability. With thi setup i also shave over 350 pounds off the front of the car.
Dude honestly i have nothing agains anyone, the whole thing on 780 was about my idea on trying to build a charger that can drift. I knew it wouldn’t come easy…that was only one whole event from the whole year.I go on these forums because, most ppl are into drag on other forums, and im not, i rather try talking to a bunch of guys who are educated on building these cars. I don’t come on here thinking i know everything…the thing is…i can do all the things i list off. Talk to me in person, i talk to you with respect. Its no different when u made a joke, how can i tell it was a joke?..i never met u…u obviously like joking, thats fine, but seriously the internet is a bad way to judge someone. I believe in doing all the work 100% by myself… i have already done many suspension swaps, tranny swaps, rebuilding of trannies for these cars…its really nothing new to me…So please id like to ask for help.
Anyways, i rather stay on topic of my next car id like to build.
i like how you come on here asking for other peoples opinions…why not do the research yourself and decide for yourself which powerplant is good for you! the 2jz is a good powerplant but like chris said when you are putting it in the RHD car you will run in to lots of problems if you are planing on keeping lots of stock stuff…fuel lines for one are on the (right) side so they need to be relocated to the left so the exhaust does not heat them up…the twins WILL NOT work unless you remove brake booster and make a custom resivour for the clutch fluid! basiclly everything chris said is what you need for the 2jz…but if your “shop” has all the fab stuff you need then i am sure you can handle it…i just like how your first post on here was “cefiro 2jz” kindof like you are looking for attention more then information…
but thats just my thoughts!
not trying to get attention…trying to get ideas. I came on here asking cause this is a nissan car club, you think i could find some info on the cars here?..you aren’t making much sence. I am trying to do research, by asking you guys, and guess what its working…So now i have some sort of idea on what i will have to change, but i’m no planning to keep much of anything stock…I plan to run almost everything aftermarket.
by the way when i talk…u all take it if i have this attitude but i don’t…please if you have the chance, mabye try talking to me in person…I have already helped out with alot of necc members cars…
i guess you never know on the net…well if its info you want its info you get
I am currently putting a 2jz into my S13 and i have it all 100% mounted and have designed sheetmetal motor mounts and cut them out of stainless steel on a CNC plasma…i am not even close the hitting the hard stuff yet…i still have the microtech to install and the turbo and etc etc…when i mounted the 2jz into the S13 there is a VERY close clearence with the swaybar then the crossmember but you can easily make your own oilpan to give you extra clearence…the fuel lines will need to be much bigger then stock…i am going to be running 3/8 braided lines from the trunk back something that you will need to do cuz the exhasut will be in the way of the lines on the other side!
you will need to mount the clutch lines on the opposite side aswell…for the tranny i would recomend the R154 tranny off of the 1jz cuz it will fit in the tunnel…if you get a shifter from a soarer it will move the shift lever back 3 inches to where you need it to sit cuz the tranny is 3 inches shorter then a RB or SR tranny!
thats all the info i can come up with and from the research i have done and plus i am tired…note that i am saying all this for an S13 but the a31 is the same chassis design!
sweet thanks 4 the help…i have been on the net checking different forums out…i’ll try to gather as much info…hows the cost on the project so far?
C33 is a laurel silly billy
ah fucking forgive my mis type…A31 is what i ment! HA
cost so far is pretty good
2000 for motor
300 for tranny
1500 for microtech
motor mounts cost nothing cuz i just took some 3/16 stainless from work
Then on coming costs will be
Gt35r 1500
manifold 300
driveshaft about 200-400
injectors 500
thats the bigger stuff there is alot more little stuff to look at like custom lines and and exhaust…3.5 inch stainless exhaust piping is not very cheap!
yeah… the lines and all i usually get for at cost, i plan to run braided stainless lines, ran them on the charger, was very satified…So far that looks not to bad, like wise as you, i have access to my fab shop at work, so i can make pretty much any type of bracket.
yeah its very handy to have all that stuff to use when u work at the right place
