Checking Refrigerant

I’m in the process of removing my A/C components and was wondering how you’d check the refrigerant. I don’t remember the a/c working when I bought the car (since it was winter), and would like to know how to release the R12 properly, if there is any left in the system. And no, I can’t check, since the engine bay is practically stripped. :/:

well really you need special tools to take care of it properly as its illegal to just release it. but its not much so it doesnt matter just press down on the shrader where u top it up and see if there is any pressure…just release it there… just dont burn your self incase liquid comes out

ps im an industrial refrigeration mechanic

Alright, cool. I kinda doubt that there is anything in there, but it never hurts to check.

Also, where is the shrader located?

should be right at the front of engine bay like hood latch area.

Hmm, is it this?
