When I had my 06 STi stage 2 I beat the living crap out of it, on street gas and on a higher boost race gas tune. It was never dyno’d, but I road coursed that car through 6 sets of tires, many sets of brakes and thousands of dollars in fuel. I never had one hickup, cracked ringland, drop of oil lost, or fowled spark plug, and I attribute that to Mike’s tune.
The 2008 Sti’s came from the factory with known problems with the tune. Subaru got aggressive for whatever reason, and broke many pistons. I kept it out of boost for the first 1500 miles, and took it to Innovative for a safe tune. 15,000 miles and two track days later and it doesn’t use a single drop of oil.
Posting a tune that shows 40 more ft/lbs of torque doesn’t mean that it’s a better tune. If that car is still running strong in two years on the exact tune posted, then we’ll have something to talk about. I’m not looking to be within two or three degrees of detonation to get the extra power, as most people aren’t so posting back to back dyno graphs of tunes does not equate to a better tune IMO.
From what I’ve seen from STM threads/posts, it looks like a very clean, well run, put together shop…
BUT, after seeing a couple threads here bashing Mike, a truly great guy, who really, REALLY knows his shit, and cares about his customers, I would never go to STM for anything.
This is such a poor way to conduct your business, STM. I mean…why do it? You’re just going to steer away a lot or moral-laiden, and credible potential customers.

You started your post by trying to come off as unbiased, which is a bit disingenuous seeing as you’re posting from STM.
You can’t say you’re not taking sides, then jump into the argument and support STM while posting from STM and saying your Emery’s friend.
If you want us to focus simply on the facts of your argument, then you should omit the extra information about your friendship. Go right ahead and take sides; he’s your friend after all and you should defend him.
this is what i was thinking… at what cost is the extra power? if it take 80k off the life of my engine is the 10 hp worth it? and then theres the extra boost thing.

Ok i have never met mike and i do have Emery work on my car. but for the people posting on the same IP address, Emery allows his customers to use the computer while they wait for their work to be done. That could explain why people have posted from the same place. Oh and also the people who work there use the computers at the shop. Go figure.
As for the whole chris thing. It all started while we were at the track and he had problems with his STI and his tuner wasnt around. So he came and asked Emery for some help or an honest opinion. Emery was there because some cars he built (mine) and a couple more were running so he was showing support. Emery towed chris’s car back to the shop so he wouldnt drive it more or damage it if something was really wrong. He also stated to chris that he needs to call or take his car back to Mike at IT to figure out what was wrong with his car cuz he dosent want to work on someone elses car. He told me that when i first brought my car to him also but me taking my car back to hawaii to have work done is a little rediculous. but anywho. Chris insisted that Emery works on his car.
I know i am siding with Emery. So let the flaming begin about me being his friend or me only having 2 posts or whatever. Just thought you guys should know the real story on it.
And for 1.5 lbs boost added giving 10hp is good to me. when we retuned from 24 to 30 psi on my car i only got 30. so sounds like a good thing there to me.
