One of the first changes that we have decided to implement involves this cluster we call the classifieds. The staff spends a lot of time giving out warnings and infractions, and changing titles and deleting posts. We will be dealing with all of the issues eventually, but one thing that we can change is THREAD PREFIXES. You may have seen them on your other forums, but on NYSPEED they are new. What they do is allow a member to more easily determine a general category that a thread may be in.
In the classifieds sections, I have put in the following thread prefix tags:
For Sale:
Want To Buy:
Want To Borrow:
Trade:
Feeler:
Hopefully this will help keep things more organized in those particular sections. One neat feature that might come in handy with these prefix tags is that after a few days of them being MANDATORY, you can set up a filter for viewing a classified forum that will limit the display to ONLY those threads with the tag prefix that you select. So if you only wanted to look at the FOR SALE threads, you could filter out all of the rest of them. If I get ambitious tonight, I may go back and edit a bunch of threads to include the tags.
To give you some examples on how to use this feature, here’s some help.
When you create a new thread (classified ad) in this section, you will see a new drop box available.
Clicking on the down arrow will show you a list of available prefix tags to apply to your new thread.
I selected For Sale:
Now after you post your thread, here’s how it will look when that classified section is viewed:
Since we have already broken down the forum by Vehicles, Parts, & Misc. adding the tag will make it even easier for you to find a part you want to buy, or a buyer for your old couch.
But wait! Call now and we will double the offer!
After this has been used for a while, suppose you ONLY want to view those threads that are “Autos For Sale” Well, you can do that, by simply using the Display Options section for the Auto Trader forum. Notice below that there is a new option available for those prefix tags.
This is what would be presented to you if you searched for the prefix “For Sale:”
Effective Immediately these tags are MANDATORY in all Classifieds threads. Hopefully this will make things easier on all of us.

EDIT:
No longer should you be changing your title to DELETE or removing any content from the add after it has sold. PLEASE PLEASE just change the thread prefix to “SOLD:” in the advanced edit window. It will make things even easier for everyone!!
