Clearing the check engine light

I connected a new battery to my car and it’s throwing MIL codes now. I checked grounds and they seem fine, so I’d like to clear the light to see if it comes back again before I pay the dealer to check it out. Ideas? Oh, and I already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, and I tried my roommate’s battery too. I just need a technique to clear.

Something with the ECU…there’s a button or something, what year isthe car? OBD2?

'98.

I could have sworn all it takes is disconnecting the battery, but I’ve never had to do that on a 240. Done it on some OBD2 Hondas, Fords, Toyotas, etc. I hear that newer Nissans have an ignition/gas/timing sequence to clear the code without going to the dealer, so I’m not sure if my car falls under this.
