clutch engagement point (ACT clutch)

i just drove my car with the new clutch in it and i almost stalled it. the clutch engages as soon as i begin to lift my foot. i have already tried to adjust the pedal height. the screw is all the way and it is still not as high as the fsm says it should be. the free play is the way it should be. what needs to be done? or is this normal for a new clutch?

p.s. pedal freeplay is how much the pedal moves before it begins to push the cylinder rod in right?

by the way i forgot to mention this is an ACT street clutch. is it supposed to engage this quick? i mean as soon as i move my foot a cm from the floor is engages

I would imagine that would be normal for an ACT street disk from what I heard.

Looking at the disk, it is spring-less right? Well, this gives the disk a stronger design, yet at the expense of smooth engagement. The springs that you see on the stock clutch, from my understanding, act as a buffer between the flywheel and the disk material, allowing smoother synchronization.

This goes along with what many people say about it: “It’s either on or off”.

it has springs. it is a performance organic disk

Oh… hmm…
Did you try bleeding your slave cylinder?

Different pressure plates will have a different marcel, which can result in quicker or later engagement. I had a ACT extreme PP in my Prelude, and it also engaged quickly.

If you don’t like the way it engages, then adjust the pedal freeplay a little higher. Just make sure that you don’t adjust it too high, causing it to slip.
