Well I have a problem with my car…my clutch has been slipping under heavy acceleratin for quite some time…and my throw out bearing has been gone the whole time I’ve had my car…anyways last night i was driving and noticed the clutch would stay halfway down and i’d have to pull it back up with my foot…and then i parked it for a hour and went to drive and the pedal was doing the same thing…so i was like w.e i have a 20 min drive it’l be ok…and then i put it in reverse and starting letting up on the clutch and then didn’t want to go too fast to i pushed the clutch back in but it the clutch just kept on disengaging more and more…so i had to stall the car…now at this point i barely tap the pedal and it just jumps to the floor and stays down…and the clutch isn’t engaged at all when its pushed all the way down…any ideas where to start fixing this? oh and clutch fluid is full
well your throw out bearings gone, and ur clutch has been slipping for some time. So your clutch is gone. The advise i would give u, replace ur clutch, while replacing ur clutch replace the slave cylinder which is $20 extra
ya its really not a good idea to continue driving your car, at the time you said it has been slipping for some time in the end that can cost you alot more money to repair depending on how much heat spots you have now put into your fly wheel
clutch and throw out bearing you should do, and as for the slave…if its not bad then i wouldnt worrie, its never any harm in doin so, but its easy access on the side of the transmission if money for you is not to easy to come by.
the clutch pad is not why your pedal goes to the floor and stays there all though it sounds like it is smoked. the pedal is somthing to do with the fluid system like master cly slave cly water in the fluid or a leak or even busted fork or fingers on pressure plate gimmie more info mabie i can help ie check fluid level see if slave even moves when you depress pedal mabie bleed it if the fluid looks crappy
i just thought about it, and what the other guy said about replacing your slave is a good idea as that could be a reason why your pedal is gone.
id say slave/new clutch/throw out bearing/pilot bushing and a full clutch system flush.
This happened to a friend of mine. All he needed was to top up his fluid. So…Check your fluid.
Nope it was the slave cylinder…the boot and seal ripped and a lot of dirt got in it and it started leaking…Works good now…clutch grabs better too…so it cost me $29.95 plus tax to fix it
nice. buddy had the same prob on his cavy. drove for over 2 years on it, lol. i learned to drive stick in it. every few days had to top up the fluid
not so easy to fix in some cars cause on cavys for instance the S/C is at the top of the tranny so u essentially have to drop the tranny to fix the $20 S/c…
i know its not a big deal…but where did u get ur slave? last year i bought one for 20+tax from CT
