clutch recommendations for boost?

was thinking spec stage 4 solid hub, says drivability is bad for the streets how bad can it be? wicked chatter? any recommendations?

Any pucked clutch will chatter but as far as clutches go I know most of the turbo honda guys have had great luck with the competition clutches. Not sure if they have one for your application but its worth looking into.

cool ill call them durring the week, im sure they have something, looks like they deal with pretty much everything. thanks

Not true.

If you want to minimize chatter, dont remove whatever the factory put in to minimize it (dual mass flys, sprung hub clutches, etc).

i have a southbend 6 puck in my GTI and its great

mad libs to be completed by every member here:

I have a (random clutch company) in my (random chassis) and it is (random evaluation).

OEM clutches/flywheels in both cars. No chatter haha

Sprung hub is always a little better for street use

Ok almost any pucked clutch will chatter on his car. I highly doubt turbo grand prix’s have dual mass fly wheels

i have a 6 puck in it right now and it still chatters even tho it wont hold over 10 psi anymore. I figure the spec 4 has to be better in terms of clamping load and i dont mind the chatter. i just need something that wont slip.

I second southbend. They may not list your car but give them a call or send an email and I’m sure they’ll be able to hook you up.

Will do I’ll hit them and comp up Monday thanks everyone

ok well, it doesnt really matter how much boost you run… its how much trq your car will make. sooooo, you might want to know that. besides i think the spec 4 will be a bit overkill for you. The spec 3+ would be alot more streetable and im fairly confident you wont have any slippage issues either.

i also thought the 3+ would be plenty, but i know 2 other people with the same exact car who said 3+ failed premature, one guy with my same setup ran hx45 and the clutch shattered on the dyno, the other guy had a stock turbo and it slips now after 6 months of occasional driving. specs only option would be 4 or 5 but i still have a few places to call around.

also you said it doesnt matter how much boost you make , its how much torque. The amount of torque solely relies on how much boost it runs and how quick it spools, so i would think it plays a decent role in choosing the right clutch… i could be wrong.

does anybody make a twin disc for your car?

doubt it
