which one should I get?
Ive heard good things about spec but thats my .02
I had a Spec stage 1 before but ruined it while towing the car. It seemed ok before that though.
If it only failed do to accidental reasons and it was working fine then might as well stick with what works, IMO shit is too expensive to take a chance when you know something else works or worked fine.
There is a spec stage 3 in one of the cars I bought. Don’t like it at all very harsh engaugement and lousy pedal feel. However it is a 6 puck so that comes with the territory. Did you try looking on mustang forums for what works well with your car and similar setup?
I did post on one Mustang site and it doesnt seem like anybody could decide on anything.
From what I saw the Spec stage 3 is supposed to be like that and its more for racing than driving around.
I only drove the car about 300 miles on the stage 2 and it seemed fine.
spec sucks. at least for any A series application.
^nobody knows what the fuck that is.
youve heard wrong.
paul get the centerforce. take a suggestion from adam for once in your life.
I did talk to a guy with a 10 second 5.0 that was running a Spec a few years ago at LVD and thats why I bought the Spec then.
Im probably going to order a clutch later tonight.
i duno man, ive seen 2 spec clutches get thrashed when used within the torque limit they list. there is no reason a spec 3 and 3+ should ever fail under normal operating conditions at 300wheel torque, but they did… the firction surface separated from the hub… that spells quality to me.
what other clutches are available? does ACT or clutchmasters make anything for it? what about southbend?
I have a clutchmasters stage 5 in the civic and have had no problems at all.
I havent seen anything from those brands. Im trying to keep the price under $325.

Kinda late to the Spec debate party, but:
I love my Clutchmasters FX100, plenty of launches and energetic shifts on it.
spec blows, don’t be an idiot
I just bought the Centerforce.
Good call. I’ve heard shitty things about spec also.
I never had a problem with Spec clutches.
Too late, but http://dxdracingclutches.com/
Samesies. There is a 3+ in the cobra right now.
Centerforce is also a great choice man, had one in my old Z28 and loved it.
