I was planning on putting in a Spec stage 3 clutch in my WS6 this spring. Then I was talking to this guy yesterday and he told me that he had the best luck with Centerforce. I am wondering if anyone else has had any good/bad experiances with either. I don’t want to get a clutch in there and have to replace soon.
I was also told that a Z06 clutch will handle up to 500 RWHP and they are cheaper.
as daily drivers,litghly modded ,z06>spec>poop>centerforce
What about goin to the track a few times/ yr. Also what do you think of Spec stage 3?
:hs:
Z06 is that good?
from what I hear about import stuff is spec don’t line up for shit either
not 500rwhp, 500bhp. But I’ve heard of people getting 550bhp out of the Z06 clutch
fyi. clutches are not rated at the drive wheels, theyre rated at the engine output.
See now I have heard just t he oposite about the alighnment stuff on Spec. Of course most of the people I talk to have domestics but thats what I plan on going with is a spec 2 or 3 probably in spring because I think my clutch is starting to go.
ACT is the best clutch I have ever used
ATC and centerforce don;t make it for my tranny. So I’m limited to begine with :hs: but from the guys that have the different size motors and have more options they are pretty satisfied with the SPec.
I would never put a SPEC in my car… here’s my buddy’s:
He was very lucky most if it went down and sideways, what did go up cut up the floor and barely missed his feet/legs. And this certainly isn’t the only SPEC to do that. I have a handfull of buddies to grenade one.
The best way to go for a high HP LS1 is Excedy but they’re bank. Rams are damn good too. Z06s are pretty good up to mid-high 300 RWHP. Some live find around 400RWHP and some don’t. But certainly not over that.

i know a guy that swears buy center force…hes an enigneer for a tranny and torque convert company…he says that the spec’s r junk…and hes had prob’s with em in his mustang…and in his brothers car!!! he likes centerforce b/c it has those weights or whatever they r on it…and says he has no probs. with it!!!
same thing happand to my buddys centerforce! :scared:
thats scary…would def. suck big time!!!
i had a centerforce in my 91 gsx eclipse-i didnt install but best clutch i ever had. :bigok:
with big clutches you need scatterproof housings. no need for a clutch to stiff for stock appilcations. this even goes for SNS. Youll have having a too stiff of a clutch for DD use or even in the city. Bics just go with the Zo6 clutch. one its factory and all youll need for now. if im correct you have the bad slave cylinder swapp that out for a Zo6 also.[brian chime in}
98/99s did have the weaker slave cylender
that could also be causing yoru clutch to go bad bics. for some reason with that setup they like to stick to the floor
correct!
