Spec or centerforce

centerforce=junk

at least when put into modded dsm’s

they’ve gotten better but the problem is that centerforce disks don’t like to be heated up from track use as they donht’ dissapate heat very well and either crumble or explode. it used to be that ACT made the best clutch setup for the “import” crowd but they’re disk quality took a dump about a year ago (not enough rivets on the hub assembly) so now they’re falling apart too. the pressure plates are awesome but their street disks leave something to be desired. pretty sure the puck disks don’t have this problem tho

when my clutch goes… or starts to slip, i’ll put a z06 clutch in.

waste of money! z06 clutch is ass

amswell is having good luck with his spec 3i

ill be putting in a mcloed big dog twin

the slaves are bad but that not the reason that they stick to the floor!

it a restricor orphice in the the line comming form the master.

u need to do the drill mod to stop it from sticking.

instrunctions can be found on installuniversity.com

A lot of the guys on the Corvette Forum say that their 02 and newer clutches will sometime stick to the floor while drag racing. I want something that can handle up to 450 or so HP (just incase I run into some $$) and will hold up with a ass driver at the track a few times/year.

Zo6 best bet for now

Z06 clutch will handle 430rwhp or so… thats your best bet

Spec is good in my book. I had over 75 6500 launches on my 1st one and it failed, sent it back to them and they sent a brand new replacement alum flywheel and clutch kit at no charge. This was after a year had gone by. Centerforce would never do that, you on your own after 90 days.

Any thing stock sucks period. It isn’t made for abuse like most of us dish out. It might handle the typical guy’s type of driving but once you put stickies on or try to slide the clutch out a few times they don’t have long to live. Ram, Spec, and Mc Leod seem to be the most durable ones i’ve seen.

I really like my Spec stage 2

how can you judge you only have 500 miles on it :bigthumb:

i have a spec stage 4 and its ok…very grippy clutch but last time i had it out it was wearing funny around the rivets and had a shitty ass groove in it. not the greatest for daily driving but its taken a lot of abuse and hasn’t failed me yet

I know a lot of you guy’s say Z06 is good…but I hear from Z06 guys that they stick to the floor sometimes while racing. So I guess it is between spec and centerforce

do the drill mod

Yeah, that’s a problem w/ modded Z06s often. But if you’re under the 350 RWHP level the Z06 clutch (and since you’ve got a '99 get all new and updated hydraulics and do the drill out mod) is very good. Dunno what your future plans for the car are, but from your sig I’m sure you’re under that level now.

Centerforces are shit. I’ve never heard of a happy LS1 owner w/ a Centerforce. SPECS I just wouldn’t trust.

If you don’t go with the Z06, then go with a Ram… damn good clutch

What is this drill mod? I am pretty sure in the next couple of years I will mod the TA a little more. At most I will do Cam, headers, and heads. So figure around 450 at the wheels and at the flywheel like 500? Anyways I just dont trust the Z06 clutch, There are guys with only headers, catback, intake, and drag radials that are having them stick.

youre not going to get 500 hp from just those mods and the clutch sticking isnt the clutch doing it. its the slave clyinder and needs to be modded
