You’re not suddenly going to pick up the 40hp or so that you’d need to get your 2900lb cavalier down the track in 14 seconds with an intake and exhaust.
#1 - Do you really need track prep in a 16 second automatic car? #2 - Do you think being about 1200’ higher than hawaii guy is going to help?
the auto gt-s is a horrible car, it only has 130 tq so the 180 hp isnt enough to make it go fast and the tranny has horrible gearing and drops out of its power band every shift, the cobalt with alot more torque and better gearing is way faster than my celica was, i got beat in my celica by the base cobalt i raced with the 2.2 by about 5 cars since i have the 2.4 cobalt im assuming i can put at least a couple more cars on it
my 2900 lb cobalt of course isnt gonna get 40 hp out of those mods but compared to other cars ive done these mods to the cobalt seemed to gain a good ammount from them, also i was under the impression that track prep would affect all cars no matter what trans they had or how fast they can go , this car already has a hard time getting traction when trying to launch so i think track prep would be important
i thought the celica GTS was a 15sec car…16 with an auto.
didn’t know a manual could run low 15’s & the same car in a auto would run high 17’s :dunno:
manual vs. manual i would have given the edge to the celica, but if you say the cobalt is quicker then ok…you have more hands on experience with those cars the i do.
i didnt , but really guys cut me a break. if you dont think i can do it then fine no one knows for sure what these cars can do in different climates tey but we will know by the end of the summer, i think i can do 15’s you guys dont so thats fine we are all entitled to our opinons but you dont have to beat it into my head like this. instead how about some tips on how to get the best time possible since threads are supposed to be helpful and most of the posts here have not been so far. like i said as soonas i get my times i can post them up and scan the timeslip for extra assurance that im not making it up but this shouldnt be such a controversial matter…
my latest concern is yuor driving… like i said if you can only get a 17.8 our of a celica GT-S then i don’t think there is much hope for great number in the cobolt :dunno:
yeah its really bad, a good driver in the 6 speed gt-s can sometimes break 14’s but a perfectly driven celica with a 4 speed auto is lucky to get mid 17’s, i even ran a low 18 in it without tq braking it
i just talked to a guy over on cobaltss.net and he ran a 15.8 in his auto ss with 87 octane and a full tank, mind you our car is supposed to run on 91 up octane and with less gas in the tank i could see him runnning mid 15’s oh yeah he was stock too when he ran
