cold starting problem?

For some reason my car doesn’t want to start first thing in the morning. It cranks over but doesn’t stay idle, just dies. I have to crank it like 3-4 times and give it gas to catch it right when it cranks over to keep it idle. but once it is starting its fine for the rest of the day. Any suggestions.

Racer240sx before you get all wired up about people not reading through before asking for help i stongly suggest you go through that thread and then think for a sec and you might notice that i am asking about something different. (not starting vs. rough idle while cold).

shift_sr20det, the car is a 92 ka24de w/260k on it.

1st off i thought it might bee the oil but your running 5w-30 so yoyr good there.
Next bet would be wires, cap, rotor, test your coil you could have weak spark and it not be sufficient enough to combust the gas.

Other than that i cant help you out any more.

thanks for the help…

Not a problem, when checking for spark look at the color make sure its blue if its orange or a faint yellow the your coil(KA)/coilpacks(SR) are shot.
