The game simulates damage too, and pretty realistically, for the most part, with one exception: You have a team with unlimited resources so they don’t really penalize you or anything when you blow up/destroy your car. Just hit ESC and you’re right back in the pits with your backup car. Or your backup backup car. Or in my case, your backup backup backup backup car.
Except during the race, where you’ll get a DNF for doing so.
Yeah, during practice and qualifying, you can get a new car. But raceday, you blow up once, that’s it.
Just bought it and I’m installing it now. . .Hopefully I didn’t waste $20.
First of all, [Last night’s replays (11/09/06)are up](http://www.comtrix.net/~rick/NYSPEED GTR2/110906 replays).
Second of all, the server is up and will remain up for the entire weekend. :headbang: I turned off logging, so no replays are currently being saved. I’ll probably turn on logging for the Saturday Night Races (~10:00pm - whenever).
If you have the game and you want to play on the server you need to PM me for the password.
Now for the important part: :fyi: SET YOUR REALISM TO SEMI-PRO. You will not see the server on the list if your realism doesn’t match what the server is configured for. Any questions, post here or PM me.
See you on the track this weekend :tspry:
Uh oh, Karl’s going to be pissed… I’m sure you can’t do auto-shift in semi-pro.
Shouldn’t we try beating on some other novices as a group just for self satisfaction first. And if we win then move up some. Not many people on the Semi-pro side.
No he won’t , you can still turn on auto-gearbox, auto-reverse, and auto-clutch in semi pro, you just need to click it yourself on your computer.
Why? The Semi pro doesn’t change any functionality or difficulty in the game other than allowing you more control over pitstop options.
I will adhust accordingly to the auto-shift issue.
KK
Don’t see server!
Here it is again
This game is addicting I finally went out and bought a wheel tonight. Whats the server name and pass?
There are not as many player in the Semi pro mode…can we… keep the Sever on novice and change the rules to semi-pro format? That way we can play and win but keep sharp on the private NYSpeed sever.
KK
Yeah I’ve got to agree with Krazy Karl, I don’t even know what the requirements are for being semi pro. I would imagine its doing some of the driving school and competing in some events though.
I just started playing the game yesterday and I have finals starting monday because rit is on trimesters so I prob won’t get in alot of play time.
Working the mornings is owning my ass in trying to play this. Seeing as no one is in until 11pm usually.
I’m not sure if anyone on here has this, but its kind of like AOL instant messanger but not. You can talk to just your online game friends either in a game or just like AIM. Kind of a cool way to find out where everyone is without coming here. . . not that this is a bad place to come. Check it out. I’m ‘98FreakGTP’ on there as well. . .
I’m pretty sure there is a large difference in physics between novice and semi-pro. For sure tire temps are better simulated. I’m sure you all have driven on semi pro some…I find it signifacantly easier to stay on the track in novice compared to semi-pro, even with all aids except for clutch off in both modes.
I don’t mind the change. the 11 pm starts are rough for me too. Not sure if I will be on tonight. I think I need to do some open pedal surgery on my dfp.
server is up now and will be up all weekend. Just go.
Most of us were planning to show up around 9:30 or so tonight, but if you need to start earlier, and others want to start earlier, go right ahead the server is on have fun.
I took some hi-res screen grabs of two of tonight’s races, just so you can see how pretty this game can look…
A couple of shots of my car during the Valencia race
This is how the back of my car looked after the incident Rick posted earlier this week…
A shot of cars going though the first couple of turns in the Valencia race
A shot of Rx3’s car in action:
My best race since starting this game… qualified on the pole, fastest lap during the race, and most importantly, led flag-to-flag FTW…
After the nice weather in qualifying and practice at Oschersleben, we got rain for the race. Lots of rain. Note how dark it is in the picture. For some reason the headlights don’t show up in the screengrab. Garick kicking ass in the rain…
Garick is the fucking man in the rain. I was all over the place, couldn’t point the car straight :banghead:
Bah, stupid Adelphia web space not working…
