Daimler bought Mercedes-Benz, who then turned around to buy Chrysler too? You see an established business thats hurting, you have a business plan and money. You buy it, and retool it, and make it work. This was an outright purchase. Chrysler was hurting badly. They had a viable American platform, the German manufacturer wanted to get in on, and basically gave them new platforms to build off from.

Ford did the same thing, with Jaguar, Aston-Martin, Land Rover/Range Rover. They also did it with failing companies too… Without ford, Mazda, wouldnt be around today, nor would Volvo.

GM is notorious for it too. Remember when SAAB bought a nice chunk of Subaru… Realized they lost their ass in that deal… So GM scooped them both up. Business is all about purchasing when its weak, finding out the least expensive way to make it profitable, and make it so.

Volkswagen did it too. They purchased Porsche, along with Audi’s purchase of Lamborghini.

Ferrari and Fiat. That stuff happens all the time. Straight out buy outs are not illegal at all. It’s smart business. I dont know what you do for a living, but you def need a couple business and economics lessons.

holy shit way to miss the point. Yes, its good business to buy out struggling companies. Its not good to be the one that drove said failing business into the ground so that it has to be bought out to stay alive.
