Moving away won’t do a thing. It happens everywhere. My hubby was suspended once for missing a court date and got caught. He cleared it all up, but ever since then they find any reason whatsoever to pull my truck over to see if he’s driving and legal.
Also, the cops have started to use plate reading technology down by me. If the RO of that vehicle comes back suspended, they will pull ya over to see if they are driving.
I’m in the middle of what feels like a losing battle. I got a ticket for my OEM foglights, traveling in the left lane, and speeding. Course, the speeding I’m not contesting…but stock foglights???
What exactly is the ticket for? I’m not positive on this so don’t quote me but it IS illegal to be using your fog lights when there is no reason for it. I really have no clue where or when I read that but I am pretty sure its the truth. I’ll look into it more.
Edit: all I found in the 5 minutes of searching “New York now has a law that requires dimming auxiliary lights along with high beams in the presence of other traffic.”
There was no other traffic lol. I was on 90 outside of Syracuse around midnight-1am. I didn’t have the highs on either because of the fog. Even so, as soon as I click the highbeams on, the fogs turn off.
I really didn’t think traveling in the left lane was a big deal either since again, no traffic and that section of right lane was riddled with pot holes. I honestly thought that law only applied to commercial vehicles.
Probable cause = being arrested and sitting in the back of the car.
Most know that I am not a fan of the cops but them scanning ANY car on the road and finding someone with a suspended license/warrant/etc… is fine by me. I dislike the fact that he was able to use the obstruction of view bullshit to accomplish that. I had a fucking environment trooper try and pull that on me and I just laughed at him.
ive heard that of the Washington State Park/Game wardens while i was out there, they had the same on road power as a Wa. State patrolman, but as the park/game wardens they can also fine you for hunting violatons and such, which WSP cannot do.
i had to deal with profiling in my eclipse all the time. i kept getting pulled over and i kept getting the “i didnt see your seatbelt” line. it wasnt anything really bad. it was just annoying, ya know? they dont bother looking at my car now. its really in how it looks. mines a regular sedan looking car, so it blends with the traffic visually for the most part. i have a parking permit on my mirror and nobody’s stopped me yet for that. its not massive, but still its there. i HAVE seen some crazy shit hangin on a mirror, to the extent of several beanie babies
That is wrong. Missinformation FTL. I interned at the county DA and half of my degree is in criminal law so let me help this thread out.
1: If you are arrested, they do not need a warrant to search your car. In your case you were illegally driving a car (without a license), which automatically justify’s a search.
2: The DEC officers do not even come close to having the same rights as a State Trooper or local cop for that matter. They can detain you, pull you over but they can not issue tickets or citations without the presence of a police officer with FULL police rights. An example of this would be: If a DEC officer found a man poaching, had all the proof. All that DEC officer can do is detain the individual, until he is in the presence of a police officer with full power. By detain, this means he can brought to State Police HQ or any other HQ and be formally dealt with. Then and only then may he be issued a citation, ticket, or be arrested.
DEC gave my buddy a few tickets for riding his dirt bike about 4yrs ago. They gave him a ticket for riding next to train tracks, and riding an unregistered/uninsured ATV. I stopped when they pulled me over (he attempted to run) and I got nothing, doing the same exact thing.
