Crapalier Won't start-Need Help ASAP

Alright, my bud’s 03 Cavy won’t start. Electrics work (everything lights up) and it turns over, but won’t catch. My obvious guess is the engine’s not getting fuel, so the fuel pump might be dead. But he just spent an assload getting a new one installed in May, so could it have burned out already? Or could it be something else?

And I hope it’s something simple as this is sole means of transport and he’s broke as a joke. So can anyone help me fix this?

is the security light or theft light on or blinking with the key on by chance

Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key?

I am going over later tonight to look at it. I probably should’ve said that I am trying to get a list of things together to have when I go over so I can hopefully pinpoint the problem.

I wrote those two things down to look at when I get there.

check for spark, check fuses…post up what happens

Oh, I’m sure I will be asking many questions in here. I have no idea what to look for.

Does anyone know a good shop in the Greentree area? It’s times like this I wish I was more technically inclined, but if it’s something I can’t fix myself, I don’t want him getting raped again for service.

check for spark/fuel

sometimes crank position sensor.
i wouldn’t be surprised if fuel pump goes bad depending where it was bought… but check it first. and keep in mind when you run the car low on gas all the time the fuel pump heats up since the gasoline will keep it cool. so if you run the tank low all the time it can burn the pump up at times.

That’s how I think he burned up the last one, but he’s changed his ways after that. But that sucks if it’s the pump since it’s only 4-5 months old. Don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf though.

Turns out to be the battery that was bad. Apparently it had enough juice to crank the motor and power all the accessories, but not enough to turn over the engine. :dunno:

And fuck the GM engineer who thought it would be a good idea to run the intake piping an inch from the side of the battery. Way to block the terminals dumbfuck. :finger2:
