Dear over-confident UB pedestrians

I understand that pedestrians have the right away, this is common knowledge. Even when crossing outside of a walk path, or at any part of Putnam way that you please, and I also cross outside of walk paths.

BUT, when you come up to the road, and see 12 fucking cars going in either direction, having a stone face and not turning your head in the slightest and just continuing to walk without even pausing, may not be the best idea.

I can’t wait to be walking around one day, and watch someone get plowed by a blonde long island girl who is eating/doing makeup/talking on her phone/giving a handjob while driving and simply didn’t see you, but because you were too cool to turn your head maybe 20 degrees, you die.

I always watch for pedestrians, and I always keep an eye on cars when I’m walking.

anyone else notice this?

I never look when crossing on putnam way… especially right in front of the union…

Other places though I’m very conscious of drivers.

One time I made eye contact with the driver started to cross the road and the asshole decided to go anyway, ran over my toe (thankfully I had on steel toe boots). when my foot was free I kicked his fucking door in.

I’m just happy wasn’t a couple of inches farther or he probably would have run over my entire foot/leg.

another observation… have you ever seen an Asian walk across the road?

UB is absolutely the worst place on the planet when it comes to common sense and decency, both for drivers and pedestrians.

Thats mildly funny.

Ever drive through the city of buffalo on a nice weather day?

i tend to look at the drivers and step out in front of them to let em know I’m crossing and they should stop. After walking in NYC a bit, its a piece of cake.

hahaha guilty.

<_<

Same thing near Strong hospital here.

I just give it some gas and they dont go.

Go to the Casino. These ppl literally run across the road thinking someone is going to steal their machine or something
D

like all other things in the US, someone has to get killed before anyone actually notices.
And then the blame game begins… it was the timing of the lights, road, ect.

Meh, I don’t know how much you have been at UB or more specifically driven on putnam way… its 15mph. there is academic buildings on both sides and countless people walking all over… Its rather obvious the driver MUST pay attention

So much worse than UB.

try hurman street anytime fucing redonkulis. that part of town scares me:ohnoes:

Ha, try NYC.

i make eye contact and walk.

That’s what you are supposed to do, that’s what I try to do.

I’m not just talking about UB, I just notice it there more than anywhere because that’s where I am most of the time.

People need to pay attention regardless if your driving, or walking.

I learned my l33t pedestrian skills from my friend who is from Brooklyn. Cars. :rolljerk:

Bikes.

I’m usually pretty cautious, I’m not going to to jumping out in front of speeding cars. But I always cross in the crosswalks…so fuck it, you hit me, I make bank, fuck school for that easy money.

Canisius is ridiculous for that. People just love to pop out between parked cars and cross in the middle of the street when there’s a Metro bus or an Ambulance coming… :uhh:

I’ve always said that if the person is in the crosswalk, they have to be yielded for. If they are randomly crossing outside of the cross walk they should be fair game and you can take them out.
