Destroyed F20 rebuild

so i finally got around to starting the tear-down of the the f20c from my dad’s s2000 that i blew up at the first dunnville trackday. the head is shot, completely, theres no other way to put it…the block has not been completely torndown yet, but from the looks of it metal traveled through piston#4 and entered some of the other cylinders…this means i get to sleeve/bore the block(otherwise its toast as well)

im glad i had already bought him a new(used) donor motor, otherwise his car would have been out of commission even longer…and he would not have been happy…

…pat, i think that metal-metal contact we heard was my valve bouncing around the cylinder playing asteroids with my combustion chamber/piston=(
…but that just means im going to be boring/stroking with sleeves/pistons/rods/a crank and a nice(most likely very expensive) aftermarket head

be warned…very graphic pictures follow…

(p.s. keep the B.S. to yourself, but feel free to comment on the moon-like craters on the head/piston)
(p.s.s. all these pictures were taken in my garage which has no lights so they may be pretty poor quality)

Tis only a scratch…

thought you already had a fresh motor for it?

and i may be wrong, but i always thought that “p.s.” was followed by “p.p.s.” …not “p.s.s.”

:gotme:

bust out the dremel

That’ll buff out

guess that plug didn’t want to come out for a reason.

nice port job, flow should really increase at low lift #'s

ouch. That sucks.Looks like alot of money is going back into rebuilding it…Good Luck

that sucks, at least you get to build it bigger and better now

it looks like the drummer boy played marching band atop your piston
, how pissed did daddy get anyways? I dont recall hearing about that in the other thread.

lol… its got a few dings.

Wow you pounded out the seats. Done in style.

How did you blow it originally? Bouncing off the rev limiter?

Jesus…

i would mount that head on the wall… thats crazy that the seats came out and such… are you going to just buy a new head?? im sure that can be fixed and saved … but i think it would have to be on race gas… but  i thought the plug would have broke

that can be fixed? wtf are you smoking?

hahahaha yea anyone thinking that can be fixed is on some sort of crack or relative drug.

head is shot…block might not be.

this happened from two trips to 12,800rpms in a 9K rpm car

Twice? Did you do it once and think, “Hey, that was a cool noise, I’m going to try that again”?

no actually my exact words were," its a honda, whatever doesnt kill it will make it stronger"…

then two hours later i did it again and said," pat, if this were your ls1 you’d have pushrods coming out through your hood" and then my car proceeded to turn to that:beer2:

it was quite a nice sequence of events…

no it could be fixed …i dont know what its called right now i will look and post link

they would have to increase the metel in the head (quench area) and futher inprove the compression and combustion efficiency…this is why i said would need race gas… still looking for link
