Diverging Diamond Intsections...

They are planning to put the first one in NY in Rochester… it’s a pretty cool idea really:

is it just to save space and avoid large turning on/off ramps?

haenzel used to live like 2 minutes from there OMG

LOL! The circles in buffalo fuck so many people up… what are they gonna do driving on the wrong side of the road!!!

Mad jdm tyte yo

Looks hillarious!

Get the hell outta here with that shit. Stupid NYS finding ways to spend money on garbage like this. I don’t know how the roads are in rochester, but they should give some of the money that is going to be spent on this and give it to buffalo and fix our GOD DAMN streets.

I almost called out “jewish home driveway” but then I remembered there is a big jew building right there. I used to use that exit or atleast drive by there everyday during rush hour and its never that bad.

guess they have stimulus money to spend.

it looks like it avoids having to cross opposing lanes of traffic. those of brighton will find someway to fuck it up somehow.

I think it would be better utilized on the monroe/590 intersection. or browncroft/590 intersection. both of those are always a mess at rush hour

a dedicated lane for the brighton exit coming right from 390 would help immensely, no need to merge into 590 only to have the lane open back up just before the exit.

since nobody clicked the link:

A Diverging Diamond Interchange is a unique roadway design that requires traffic on the non-freeway road to briefly drive on the opposite side of the road. Traffic crosses from the right to the left side of the highway at signalized intersections, allowing a free flow of traffic onto the interstate. This configuration eliminates left turns across traffic and minimizes conflict points, resulting in fewer and less severe crashes.

conceptual skills:grouphug:

fine, you get the cookie

never saw a crash there for the year I lived literally right there (grey stone lane) I did see a bad one on the scottsville/390 exit glad i moved, well from both!

That is going to fail soooo hard.

i go through this intersection literally every day on my way too and from work, the problems happen when people are backed up about half a mile over the canal just to get on 590. I don’t think this will help much though, because the 490 - 590 interchange backs up like 3 miles during rush hour, and people can’t merge.

This is actually pretty slick. I’ve never seen it before. I’m sure people will complain though. People love to complain.

I doubt you will realize that you’re “driving on the wrong side of the road”, because obviously winton southbound is elevated above northbound.

That looks great in southern states.

It looks fucking stupid to have the fast moving flow through traffich have to manuever like that, especially in the snow.

Just stick to what the local population knows, or else its like these stupid fucking traffic circles that are “more effecient” but thats only realized on paper.

I’d rather slide into an angled wall than Tbone someone making a left…

Whats wrong with the standard cloverleaf?

I do not think it is elevated. It looks like they have an intersection where you switch over to the other side with a traffic light. You would be very conscience of the fact you’re on the wrong side of the road.

ugh you’re right. there are traffic lights at those intersections. now its pointless.
