DIY: Rollcage install (1g DSM)

1g right?

details?

nah, The interior is all gone. The cage complicates the installation. I was actually planning on keeping them, but I cant fit most of the peices with the cage in place. Oh well, another 15 lbs. of weight savings.

nice. thats going to be a nasty little machine

OMG dude i tried it, think of a total dollar amount and times it by 3

what times this beast gonna go? along with an increase in whp

very sexy…you didn’t lie…I’ll give ya a call towards the weekend…

Yes, 1g DSM FWD originally came with the 1.8L w/93 crank hp! lets just say I more than 3X the power over that, and next year we are going for 4 times that amount.

I have had the car for 8 yrs. now and I plan on keeping it for a while, pending any disaters. So I am prepping the chassis for '07 when I actually have more $$ to throw around, that’s when I will be going for some “real” times.

Looks good  Was the cage pre-fabbed or custom made? How many points?

woot woot

Pre fabbed, 6pt.

Sorry, I am trying to answer all these questions at work and answer phones at the same time…

Yeah, I can’t really say Budget racing as much as I can call it second hand racing. lol

I am hoping to cut a second off my 12.9 and then some. Slicks will help the ET…I am losing 130+ lbs, and add 30 to 50 more horse for the trap speed. If I do that, plus a few extra tricks, I should be able to accomplish my goals for '06.

Mind you this is a rebuilt motor, and not a “built” bottom end. All stock NAPA (clevite) replacment parts. So the question is…will the bottom end take the abuse for another season? We will see!! 07 brings my built bottom end, that’s when I will really need the cage.

very nice work

HOLY SHIT its a race car   jk

Nice work…Can’t wait to see it in spring…maybe I should do some work to my car over winter.

That might be interesting!

BTW: thread edited for greatly expanded DIY content!

Cages are for pussies, Joe!! J/p, it looks fantastic!!

i cant express how sexy your car looks with the cage, carpet and paint…i need to come see it in person…

Just like suspension is for pussies.
